I heard a report earlier that a little girl that was seen on US news welcoming US troops was found hung as well. Don't have a link... I don't really want one either.

As a student of history I see a great injustice in how Jewish people were treated throughout history, how the Arabic peoples were treated during the crusades, and how the Palestinian people are being treated now.

Unfortunately the Palestinian people are led by terrorists and criminals, who no longer want peace, they want the business of terror to continue.

Go back and look that the period before the creation of the state of Isreal, look at the agreements that were made. If you think Iraq and such are food for conspiracy theorists, you ain't seen nothing yet. Take a look at the part the UN played in it. A very, very strange period in history.

I'm not anti-semitic, and now that there *is* a ( nuclear ) state of Isreal, I think there always will be. How they treat their neighbors, their palestinian workforce, and the *INTERNATIONAL* city of Jerusalem, will determine what kind of nation they will be. So far, I am no more impressed with them than the other side in the conflict.

while spot reading through an english language Quran given to me by a Saudi officer, i found an interesting passage where the various "false religions" are discoursed on. the first to be discussed was Christianity, and the verdict was not too unkind: gross overvaluing of Jesus the prophet, mixed up on this Trinity thing, but overall not too bad a group. then Buddhism, Hinduism, and other eastern religions were discussed, and the language and judgment began to become quite terse. next animism, paganism, and atheism were discussed, and the descriptions and judgment bacame very terse. finally, Judaism was discussed, and i can only describe the words i read as venomous and hate filled, at least in that english translation which Rafah had given me.
i asked him about that passage the next day, and we read it together. i then asked him how someone who accepts that passage at face value would be able to live in peace with a Jewish nation in the vicinity. Rafah al S. then smiled weakly and walked off without giving an answer to the question.

i'm not really meaning to single out one side of the Arab-Israeli conflict and bash in the prev post ( yes, i remember Meyer Kahane dancing through the West Bank streets calling the people up in the buildings dogs). i'm only pointing out that this is a very ancient quarrel which has roots starting many hundreds of years ago, not in 1948. long standing feuds like that can be managed, but it takes incredible, sustained effort by both sides.

I must admit though, that the US still has a 'thing' for 'gas-guzzlers' and so they should/can, having the lowest petrol prices on the planet.
What irks me somewhat is that BCF extinguishes have been outlawed, due to their CFC content, yet are by far the safest/best extinguishers available.
One of the F1 Toyota's engines was terminally trashed due to the use of Dry Chem, when BCF [BromoChloroDiFluoroMethane] is inert [just because it's a Greenhouse-gas it gets banned]...
Back when it was first banned, Senna was told by Dennis...if there is a fire, stay in the car, then they'll use BCF because it's a life-threatening situation. Hop out and they'll not use it and probably wreck the engine...

Just to clarify...yes, I DO know quite a bit about history and reality "on a historical/political level"...but align myself with paxx's views a lot more closely than you obviously imagine.

2 facts are quite 'important' and relevant.
Iraq has the second largest oil reserves on the planet. [who buys/uses them at present is irrelevant].
The US is the largest 'user' of fossil fuels on the planet.

jennyc: that was out of line. If there were a lot more people like paxx in the world, there wouldn't be as many problems as there are. It takes all kinds. Checks and balances. If paxx has any fault, it is that he judges everyone by the stadards he holds himself to, and many don't deserve it. He assumes people will behave in ways he feels are logical or ethical, and sadly the worst people in the world have no concept of his sort of ethics.

People who are truly interested in peace are worth their weight in gold. Peace is what this is about, regardless of what the jaded or hateful believe. It isn't out of revenge that we are destroying Saddam Hussein's regime, it is to prevent further atricities. What paxx wants is why we are doing this. If he can't comprehend how evil some people are, then perhaps that is a testiment to how safe the world is slowly becoming.

Adolescents who riot, celebrities that can't find Iraq on a map, and world leaders that cry peace because they have made lucrative deals with evil men, none of these have any business calling themselves lovers of peace. I believe paxx is genuinely concerned with peace, so we are on the same side.

Jafo, I hate gas guzzle cars... I walk mostly or ride my bike...I don't drive. I refused to learn to drive on account of my personal feelings that dependence on a vehicle that is detrimental to the air and land cannot be a good thing to learn to do. When the solar powered cars come out... well...they will be slower...nobody likes slow cars...but we HAVE to sacrifice SOME place. "P
