[Mercenaries Beta] Aquatic Biospheres and Advanced Aquatic Biospheres are One Per Player instead of One Per Planet

As it says on the tin. :)

<<<REMOVED partial screenshot after reading comment from Stardock Staff elsewhere>>>

Checking the XML file, it appears all three Aquatic Biosphere improvements have been set to Player Wonder instead of Colony Unique.

Not going to post all three improvements, but here is a sample of part of the first improvement:

<Improvement>
<InternalName>AquaticBiospheres1</InternalName>
<DisplayName>AquaticBiospheres1_Name</DisplayName>
<ShortDescription>AquaticBiospheres1_ShortDec</ShortDescription>
<Description>AquaticBiospheres1_Dec</Description>
<Icon>Biospheres.png</Icon>
<BuildIcon>Biospheres_Build.png</BuildIcon>
<ListIcon>Biospheres_Icon.png</ListIcon>
<ImprovementType>Terraforming</ImprovementType>
<PlacementType>Terraforming</PlacementType>
<IsPlayerWonder>true</IsPlayerWonder>
<LandPercentageMin>0</LandPercentageMin>

It should be:  <IsColonyUnique>true</IsColonyUnique> for all three.

Found this messing around with the new campaign, for what it is worth. :)

LATER EDIT:

I suppose I could have been misreading things and it's that Aquatic Races get one tile period, empire wide, per tech age.  If so, fair enough and ignore this post.  Not really sure of the utility of it then, as three extra tiles empire wide really doesn't seem like that much of a benefit, especially on maps larger than Small.

But I suppose that's a discussion for another time. :)

This is as designed, those improvements are part of the Amphibious ability, the player gets one to use each tech age, they can be placed on ANY tile, so they are pretty powerfull, they are also in addition to all the normal tarraforming improvements, So having them be one per planet would be quite OP.

I will look into making this more clear in the description however.

Thanks for the report.

Well, one per planet per tech age would be OP, but three tiles total is really underwhelming - especially on any of the larger map sizes - even if they can be placed anywhere.

Surely there's a happy middle ground here?

is there a way to make it One per Aquatic Planet per tech age?      Even on big maps, there are not that many aquatic planets.   This would really make the aquatic a lot more interesting.

Love it can it be?

IMO, getting one free (non unique) improvement per colonization is fairly more OP than three water tiles empire wide over the course of the entire game on anything medium size or above.  On the flip, Aquatic races get free Ultimate Adatability for Aquatic Worlds which is amazing for them and might be OP on its own.  On the flip again, Aquatic life support is really limited, so that helps balance that out (along with the rairty of Aquatic worlds).  On the flip for a third time, however, Aquatic races don't have to take the Torian tech tree, and thus (presently at least) aren't required to take Aquatic life support modules.  So, dunno.

Just glad I ain't the one trying to balance these tasty tasty snacks. ;P

Make any race that has the aquatic trait use those life support and untie it from the tech tree. Although there should be a way to research improvements for it instead of having a separate life support tree for it.. Hmm..

I've not tried modding in anything like this, but you'd think that you'd be able to make the aquatic life support components have both the standard life support techs and the Aquatic empire trait as prerequisites while the standard life support components have the standard life support techs as their prerequisites and the Aquatic empire trait as a preclusion.
