Can't trade for planets?

Also no food bonus if that's related

I've been getting back into playing GalCiv2 since the new patch and I've found something annoying - I can offer up planets for trade, but I can't ask for them from other civs. Also, I distinctly remember bonus food tiles from my earlier playthroughs, and there's none now.

I'm playing the Steam version of the Ultimate version, if that is relevant.

heyho

this is currently debated in the CU thread

https://forums.galciv2.com/457944/page/62/#3612165

you may leave an opinion there - because there will be a finalization

but so say a few words on the subjects

planet trading could be done quite exploitable, the AI routines are erratic & gimped, but we couldn't change these...

traditional farming, and esp. bonustiles, sometimes lead to extrmely high maxpop planets which the AI can't handle - it'll wreck his economic game. thus, all farm projects gave a % instead of a base food bonus, as such bonustiles became irrelevant and were made invisible. I think it's currently changed back because the AI doesn't reckon farms as being farms, currently.

the farming problem is somewhat impossible to solve without any drawbacks on some regions....

Ahh, got it. So, the short answer is "WAI due to AI balance reasons". Thanks for the info.

{not a clue about actual balancing so I'll leave that to more experienced people}

Let's leave planet trading off the game that way the ai doesn't give away planets need.
