Activate-Deactivate tecnologies & override faction name in-game, etc

First of all i want to thank ZombiesRus5 because of his fast and brilliant answer about interstellar travel and stars. Oh my gosh i felt so dumb! XD

Two, a line of rant about additional replies limit... this must be used in other forums too, it's pretty nice. But, 2 replies? restricted to ONE because the other was the PRESENTATION one! 2 replies guys srsly? i mean, TWO (2) (french: deux) (portugese: dois) (spanish: dos) (latin: duo) (italian: due) (german: zwei) (swedish: twa)!

Back to business... i've created a great map (roughly 200 planets per 40 stars) with galaxy forge based on the Vor Universe, from the Lois McMaster Bujold's saga of the vorkosigans. I would like to make sure that the faction name remain the same that i write in the editor, and not the original SINS names (ie "Nitheim Rebels", "Luopica Colonists", etc). How can I change this? I have read somewhere that i must create a mod with custom strings... how i do this (also a redirect to a tutorial not found by myself is good).

Fifth, i would like to play with the tech tree of the civilizations anyway, enbling and disabling them from being researched. Or make them present from the start. How i can do this? also a mod? a new race?

I have other ideas but i'm not sure if really working on these last ones. The fact is, i'm thinking if i'm capable of making a "real" mod. You see, the races of SoSE can quite easily be transformed in the factions of the Vorkosigan Saga... there is little* to change. But i'm not sure to have the time to even do "little*" changes... i modded some medieval 2 total war sometimes ago (and still hame huge amounts of abandoned projects) and even to create the map with the tool i spent all yesterday afternoon. And i'm not a modeler (images of the books ships do not exists anyway  :) )   I would like to grasp the amount of work. Yeah, the answer here is "all your social, work, sleep and uni lifetime" i know...

the first trick toward the faction names is fixed starting positions, with a MOD(do NOT alter the base game files, but DO copy the files into a mod folder structure first before editing) having the races names the way you want then (simple string edit and all strings are in text mode (can be edited with notepad++ (just alter the value lines only)(the strings folder *.str where the * is your language)

regarding the altering of the research trees , the best answer is to look in the pinned posts here in the modding area, the modders most likely to have the info you want/need are myfist0 and zombiesrus5, but there are other modders in other projects that are also likely to have worked with the research trees, and as sins is going on for over seven years old and the mods have been increasing in size/complexity over the time along with RL changes for the modders, it is a simple case of less time for modding and helping new modders, more time needed by RL, while the modders still want to put the time into modding & RL which means helping drops faster
