No Returning Aliens - but what about OTHER THINGS?

I know the fact that the aliens aren't returning has been a talking point for awhile now and I don't want to start on the merits or pitfalls of that.

But what about OTHER stuff? Will we see the Hellbore Cannon? Quasi-Space?? Tzo Crystals? Rainbow Worlds? An Ultron? A Sun Device?

Are ANY of these things fair game?

What do other people think, or want to see the return of? What would you miss?

I miss my indomitable Clear Spindle, my intriguing Aqua Helix and the aptly named Rosy Sphere, damn it!!! Can those make a return?

Personally, I would hope so, but I guess it all depends on the reasons the aliens aren't coming back, whether it was more of a designer choice or a licensing choice.  I could see it being either because the SC2 races are so iconic and special, SC3 did nothing to capture that.  I suspect the technology will transfer over (if anything have different names) because it's still integral to that Star Con game mechanics.

Yeah, what about Vux Beast? Or some fun places like Velpecula canstellation? Ultron?  And maidens... We need maidens :)

The Vulpecula constellation should still be able to be included! It's a real constellation! Actually, to my knowledge, at least the vast majority of constellations in SCII were based on real ones. Vulpecula, Cassiopeia, Orionis, even Procyon! Others were named for famous astronomers (or astrophysicists) like Chandrasekhar (Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar).

I doubt Toys for Bob has the spiritual rights to the likes of Alpha Centauri, so I'm thinking we'll probably see some good repeats!

By making reference to V constellation I wanted to show its funny geometry in SC2, + things like finding a star in hyperspace that is superclose to a Supergiant, like Vela, that you do not notice right away.

I hope there is still a Hellbore Cannon... then that can remain SC's tip of the hat to Star Fleet Battles and I can name my planet after one of my own never-to-be-published things instead:-)

What other stuff I'd like to see return?

Multiple dimensions of space and time. They were emphasized a lot in SC lore, along with the strange creatures inhabiting them. I loved QuasiSpace, would really hope to see more things of that general nature. Maybe a unique race that has its home in Hyperspace this time around.

Omg, me too!! That's what kept me up countless nights! Wondering just what swallowed the Androsynth whole, just because the Androsynth SAW them and they couldn't UNSEE them. And the idea that they can only find you if you find them first? Ho-lee-cowwwwwww!

Yeah! The multidimensional antics made the SC universe feel, well... even more epic and mysterious! We just got a little taste of the multiverse via the Melnorme, Androsynth, Orz, and Arilou in their little QuasiSpace. The tip of an iceberg, with a teasing inkling of incredible things hidden beneath the surface. I need MOAR!

Yeah, and it might sound crazy but we could have an additional dimension within the additional dimension, like ultra-space that can be found inside quasi-space or something. Might be fun too and totally unexpected.

Multi-dimensional shenanigans also provides a quick narrative out to why SC2 aliens aren't resent. They are just from a different reality stub.

Humans will be the only problem with the other dimension thing, but yeah! its a awesome idea to continue in the same "existence" and not in the same universe

^_^

These latest posts all bring up a good point for this thread - even if no proper nouns are carried over - will IDEAS be carried over? Will there be a horribly ugly race that thinks humans are the ugly ones? Will there be a race that can manipulate DNA? Mind-control all sentient creatures? One that lives in a gas giant? One that sells info for bio data? Will there be two races that combine to form a better one? What should be fair game? And what would be considered a "rip-off"?

I hope that we get to see the return of the Neo-Dnyarri in the this sequel!

After all it did say it would return!
