Without inciting a religious war: Is g-sync support planned?

Please with-hold your personal opinions.

Just a question:  Is g-sync planned or is freesync the only planned support?

I searched the forums and online and I can't seem to find any definitive answer.

Thanks in advance! :)

I was of the impression G-Sync was something controlled by the GPU driver and monitor, without any need of per-game support. It's something set up in the nVidia Control Panel. Make sure you don't have V-Sync selected in your game's video properties, of course.

Q: Does NVIDIA G-SYNC work for all games?

A: NVIDIA G-SYNC works with all games. However, we have found some games that do not behave well and for those, we recommend that users take advantage of our control panel’s ability to disable G-SYNC per game. Games that NVIDIA discovers that have trouble with G-SYNC will be disabled by default in our driver.

So.. I'm an idiot and was looking for answers in the wrong place.  Thanks for setting me straight, haven't been hardware shopping in years :)

I find the whole G-Sync setup to be loose, at best. It's hard to figure out how to set it up and harder to tell if it's working. I'm running a G-Sync monitor myself. Still unclear to me what I'm getting from it because I wasn't really having trouble with anything with my old monitor. *Shrug*

A bit of a necro here, sorry.

I've been using a G-Sync display for about a month. I can certainly tell the difference in smoothness and response time when the framerate is closer to 60, as it was with my old monitor. Even if it is something you don't directly notice an improvement, the fact that you're not noticing anything annoying says something, too.

But yeah, G-Sync should be controlled via the Nvidia driver and the G-Sync module in the monitor. It doesn't need software support. I was a tad confused when I saw the free sync option upon launching Ashes, as well.
