Additional replies would exceed the limit for new accounts

You get to reply to like 3 things in a day, im not even sure I did that many today after coming back to answer the couple threads I started last night.

Horribly restrictive to the point I didn't even get a chance to post the suggestions I had yesterday or today. Guess ill just read these and not bother trying to post/reply if I have to string it out over weeks just to reply and thank people for answering the couple posts I made.

Will just say thanks here i guess to all that replied to the 3 posts it allowed me to make.

**Edit 11-23-2015  9pm Because I cant even post once**

This doesn't even stop the spam , just makes them send me private messages. Had this x3 in my private messages today when I came back to reply and cant even make one single post, What a fkin joke and waste of time signing up on this site has been!

Odd. I reply as much as I want. Never heard that restriction.

I've never heard of that restriction either, and I have certainly posted more than three times in a day, although not recently.

OP is right. This is a great way to keep new members easier to moderate, but it doesn't really keep out determined troublemakers, who will just let the account sit until the restriction falls away automatically after 30 or 90 days.  Meanwhile the forum community loses out on feedback/input from new blood.  Can't you just slow the remaining posts for the day as a compromise? I.e. one per every 30 minutes after the first three or some such?  Otherwise new players who decided to engage with the communists may lose interest because of the rather draconian limits on their posting in the first month(s?).

This is a necessary restriction to prevent some of the spamming that has been occurring in the forums. They restrictions are temporary for new users.

Well said. I called a buddy who owns this game to ask him if he had same problem. He said he did and (just like you pointed out) quit the forums on the second day because of it. After replying to the couple I can today, I am going to do the same thing myself. 3 is just too restrictive.

A better solution would be to check if people own a copy of the game in steam at least (or write a small program that does it for you) and not subject them to this. I wonder how many of the forum members would have kept coming back if they had experienced this when they first started their account with stardock.

I've experienced this kind of new user restrictions (and other types including a timer between individual posts) and it can be annoying at times but it hasn't ever been the reason I might not participate on a forum. 3 is the lowest I've seen though, that probably should be a touch higher.

You definitely shouldn't be caught out by the restriction though, which it sounds like you were.  If the system doesn't make it clear you have this restriction and how long it will last or how to progress pass it than that is something Stardock should sort out.

I've got that one too. Sadly, I foolishly deleted the message before I even thought of reporting it.

Private Messages are, as one might surmise, private. We can't know that there is spam going on there if nobody reports it, and this is the first I've ever seen someone do so. We'd need the userids to nuke them.

Me too, but it's still in the trashcan.

No, because my initial thoughts were someone playing a joke on me. But seeing that exact message now in the OP made my change my opinion.

the userID is this

Jafo knows of it. Several others and I have reported it already. That one may have sent out a lot of people and the ones who are not as regular may just now be getting it.

That user is already banned. Since those are PM's, we can't remove them from all accounts like the regular forums. Just need to delete.
