Can you please tell the bombers to - not - fly in front of the meta pack, this also includes medics

It is a good idea to make a meta unit for a quick battle, but friggen bombers, and planes and medics are faster than the ground units and thus get taken out by the other armies anti-air.

You need a way to make formation. it is hard enough as it is to select out the air amoungst 100's of units.

 

One example is if you assign your army to attack at various points, and then do something else, o.e., give 10 commands.

The medics, and the air get to the check points first and get taken out, this also includes engineers

This is why you need to allow units to follow each other. This way I can tell my medics to follow a unit at the back

You must not be forming a metaunit.  If you are they will travel at the same speed (more or less) as the rest of the army (except when attacking).  This is different then making a control group.

Select your group of units, hit "V" on the keyboard, or "Form Army" button in the commands area of your units at the bottom left of center.

I notice that when I try to Form an army this only works with a limited number of units. What is the limit of units for forming an army?

Man, that is the point of a meta unit. To have one big army.

planes should not fly in front all the time. Obviously the other team willl have smartys waiting for you.

I just want units to follow each other.

This way I could make a meta unit, and then keep the planes seperate in an assigned group and link them to follow 1 unit, ie a dreadnought.

I find putting bombers in their own control group to be the most useful way to deploy and use them.  Tossing them into a meta-unit is a bit of a waste IMHO.  Fighters supporting land-based meta-units may be necessary in the future if the AI ever learns how to use aircraft.  3-5 scout drones are a must for meta-units specializing in arty; as they can see further and are more durable than the land-based scouts.

Yeh but when you have bombers flying all over units, it is hard to select them as they are flying friggen everywhere.

That's why I task them to a single control groups.  That way you hit number 3 or w/e and boom, you got em.
