Player adjustment to the mega event threat level

As it stands the threat posed by some of the mega events, Dread Lords and Peacekeepers in particular, can be minimal on larger maps. By the time they appear the player is usually advanced enough to eliminate any threat they could have posed.

Could the threat level of these events be an option on a slider with minimal, normal, high and suicidal? On normal the threat would be as designed today. On high and suicidal the Dread Lords and Peacekeepers appear with significantly more advanced levels of weaponry and ships as well as higher production levels and more logistics to build bigger fleets. The mega event with the artifact could also be tweaked to provide significantly more production to the race that gets it on higher levels, making neutralization quickly that much more imperative.

On a related note, would it be possible to make them player factions? Playing the dread lords in sandbox or even in a DLC scenario would be interesting.

What they should do is make Mega Events scale in difficulty based on how powerful the factions are at that point in the game like they used to in GC2.

That would work.

A few other ideas for improving the mega event DLC:

- Make sure that the Dreadlords / Peacekeepers start with competitive tech, instead of a fixed starting point?

- Once exterminated, DLs/PKs can reoccur later (with a gap of at least 100 turns?)

- Maybe DLs/PKs get reinforcement fleets that appear on the edge of the game field, in the same general area, with frequency determined by number of inhabitable planets?  The idea being that one of the six sides of the play area is the "origin" for the DLs/PKs.

One idea for the artifact event would be to let the conquering civilization that eliminated the threat gain the bonuses. That would precipitate a whole new conflict with a significantly elevated threat. In my game right now the Snathi Revenge just got the artifact in turn 235 where they are down to 1 small class 8 planet, I kept them alive to see what they would do, kind of funny that they keep threatening me when I have 157 planets. I am playing on insane/abundant/abundant with the Naselus mod. Three civilizations including mine are fielding fleets with huge dreadnoughts that get several hundreds of damage points. The event is pretty redundant, now imagine if one of my main opponents captured them and gained that advantage, I could be in real trouble.
