i've been trying to play the game but i keep getting "low memory error". sometimes just starting the games other times in the middle of a match. now i have 8gb of ram and checking task manager and afterburner ram usage does not go pass 4gb but pagefile is around 8gb. i have windows 10 x64. it feels like the game is not running at x64 though.

system specs:

athlon 860k 4.5ghz

r9 285 2gb

8gb ram

840 evo 1tb

windows 10 home x64

Sounds like you have a lot of other things running when you play the game. I really don't know Win10 but there should be something in Win10 where you can check what all loads at Startup. A quick Google search found this: http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/windows-10-tip-control-which-apps-and-services-run-startup. Start there and tell us what you see/change.

Good luck!

Also, if/when you run into that message again, consult Task Manager. You can do that by right-clicking the taskbar and selecting Task Manager or hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and selecting Task Manager. Then select the Processes tab. At the bottom of that window should be a button that says Show processes from all users. Click it. The information is in columns. One of the columns will be labeled Memory. You can click on that column header to sort all running processes by the amount of memory they use. You should find your memory offender in that list!

ok did that and nothing out of the ordinary. its not that my memory is full , total usage doesnt go past 4.5gb and the game is only using 4gb. now i change the page file to system manage i could play the game (still got the low memory error but didnt auto close). i dont like using pagefile especially if there is still almost half of my memory empty as that uses ssd cycles. btw its running on dx11 cuz dx12 crashes instantly with some weird error or an instant no memory or just doesnt open with both latest full drivers or latest beta drivers.

Try it without a pagefile. But there's still something odd going on. Do you have any old peripherals on USB or anywhere else that might have some old, crappy drivers? When you upgraded to Win10 did you go get all the Win10 drivers for your motherboard, etc.?

Also, I would make sure I close EVERYTHING before I play the game. If it recurs I would then start removing things from startup. Sooner or later I'd boot up naked and then run the game.

Can you post a screenshot of the error?

Can you download and run the tool below:

http://sd.stardock.com/Support/supportToolTest/SDSupportTool.exe

Then attach the .zip that's created and send it in with a ticket to support. With your ticket, if you could also link to this forum post, it would be most helpful:

Before running the game, right click on your taskbar and select Task Manager.  In the lower left corner of the window that opens, if you see "More Details" click on it.

In the top left corner, select the Performance Tab.  Now click on "Memory" on the left below the Performance Tab.

Make a note of how much of your RAM you are using as noted on this tab.  You should see a full graph on the right that is just for Memory.

*** Important ***

Leave this window running while you are playing the game.

Run Ashes, and when you get the "low memory error" take a look at this window again (either by closing to desktop, or ALT+TAB to desktop, or WINDOWSKEY+D to jump to desktop.  Make note of the memory.

To dive in a little further, you can also click once on the "Open Resource Monitor" option on the bottom center of the Task Manager window.

When looking at the Resource Monitor, you can again click on the Memory Tab at the top.  This will break down the majority of where your RAM is being utilized.

Inside the "Processes" field, directly below where you selected "Memory", you will see the column header titled "Working Set".  If you click on that you can sort from smallest to largest, or vice versa.

Sort so you have the largest numbers at the top.  This will tell you what applications are using up your RAM.  From this you can do research into whichever programs are holding up RAM the most.  If you don't know what they are, you can search online using your preferred search engine to learn about each piece of software.  If you don't know what the piece of software is, I DO NOT recommend shutting it down until you can learn more information.

If you select on any of the pieces of software running, you can get more detailed information on what that process is doing with the RAM.

Feel free to screenshot any of these windows and sharing them with us.  The easiest way in any windows to get a screenshot is to hit the "PrintScreen" button usually above your number pad.  This in effect "copies" the entire screen.  Open up Paint, or another image editor.  "Paste" the screenshot into that window, and then save as a JPG, upload to someplace online for sharing.  (Some people use Facebook, some using Google Drive, others use Imgur, etc.)

After all of this, if you aren't seeing your system running out of RAM, then there is a possibility your video card memory is running low.  This can happen from another game running in the background, or even if you have a browser like Google Chrome with streaming video playing.  I know that I sometimes run Youtube.com open with dubstep playing in the background while I game.  Graphic editing software, video editing software, they both can utilize your GPU's RAM on top of your system's RAM.

The other item to check, since you have a large Pagefile, would be if your HDD is low on space. (Ie. less than 10 GB).

Good luck!

thanks for you help. the problem seams to have gone away now with the new update.i havent had a lot of free time to really check but it seams to be using more than 4gb now and not giving me any errors. the hdd low on space dont think is was the problem since i have an 840 evo 1tb less than half full and a secondary 750gb hdd with pagefile also enable for some reason. but everything seams ok now. for graphics ram afterburner which is always running is not showing full ram usage which i find surprising  since its only 2gb although i cant run it on max but that a given. but thanks when i have time i'll play a full max players game and see what happens.
