Thanks, for this build! My fx cpu is doing twice the average fps than with 0.50!

here is mine

Here is my overclocked fx8350 at 4.5 GHz.

DX11 no CPU at Max DX11 Yes CPU at Max

tatsujb: If you have Win10, you should try DX12 CPU test in my opinion.
ASADDF: Excuse me, sir, but could you tell me if you have any overclock on your CPU, or is it at stock/factory settings?
I added in 1080p DX11 and both 1440p DX12 & DX11 benchmarks from my current system to my original post at the top.
rather bad results overall. what would you say it is that's holding me back? the DX11? the 3rd gen of my CPU albeit it's high turbo and core count?
or just the GTX 760?
I have RAM that would normally be fast (stock 2400Mhz no overclock) and 16gis of it. not only that but the timmings are real good : 9-11-11-31-2N
but the cpu prevents me from running it at anything other than 1600Mhz.
I believe it is your 760 being not only a couple generations behind, but a lower end of the 700 series spectrum, versus say a 770 of your generation. I was on a pair of 6850's the week I got into the Founder's program, and then my 390X upgrade shipped in. Massive difference.

So I figured I should check out how my Phenom II X4 980 @ stock 3.7 Ghz fares against the 8350's including the overclocked benchmark done by Spartan
It's definitely a boost, but not a boost like I would expect. I was expecting along the lines of 200% - 250% increase in performance.

1080p DX12 CPU Test:
FX cpus have pretty weak/slow cores, to expect 200% difference against a Phenom II X4 is unrealistic.

I use stock/factory settings
Thank you!
thanks. I'll consider an upgrade.
I hope that it really is just that. i don't want to upgrade the wrong piece. i was originally thinking about changing the cpu.
Now bare in mind, that in 2016 Nvidia releases their new line of GPU's with HBM2 memory. So when that happens there will be price drops and refreshes across their line. While this is most likely occurring in Fall of 2016, if you can hold off you will be able to get the 980's at a lower rate. This is of course if you are going to continue with Nvidia GPU's. If you look towards AMD they new refresh is already out with the Fury line. I managed to get my 390X at $367.

My brothers both have them, in a lot of other applications they are outperforming me nearly double. It has just depended on if the application utilizes the CPU as well as can be hoped.

1440p:

EDIT
Re-test with the new 15.10 Catalyst driver:

Not a whole lot difference to the 15.9.1 driver. A slight bump in CPU and % GPU bound heavy.
Don't do that! Your cpu should be great, especially under dx12. It is either your gpu or something is wrong with your pc.
With 0.50 I got average 40 fps on cpu test, with 0.51 it was average 47 fps, and with this build it is average 75 fps. I'm extremely happy with the current result.

That's a great turn around!
