Edit Explorer/IE shell parts/Edit Explorer Parts/Glassy areas/Search field background.

Note: it will also change the search area on the start menu.

LOL. Don't know about your internet. Only know mine is real fast but maybe I just answered 4 minutes before you. Doesn't matter as he has the answer and that is what is important.
