FELH: Arcane Armor researched- so now what?

Hello to all-

I have a question to pose here (For FE: LH), regarding the tech tree. Specifically, I'm wondering what I should be doing after researching the "Arcane Armor" Magic technology.

I have about thirty seasons to go in my current game; as such, I'll concede that I don't expect to need this tech in order to win the game. However, I have been trying to figure out how I would proceed in trying to obtain a set of Champion's Armor for the use of someone in my army- but I'm a bit stumped at the moment.

There is no price listing for Champion's Armor; from that, I gather that it should never be available in the shops at any of my cities. As such, I'm guessing that this is not generally available to standard armies, and it is limited to either my sovereign or other heroes.

So... is this something accessible via quest only?

It's available to buy in the shop for heroes.

Units can also wear the armor if they have plate mail proficiency. Just be ready for the massive crystal cost!

I appreciate your reply- though now I'm more confused than ever.

I just looked at my original inquiry, and I can see that I missed a few points there.

"There is no price listing for Champion's Armor" isn't strictly true. It does actually show a price- of zero. That's why I wasn't expecting to see it in the shops.

Although it isn't apparent from my original posting, I did look in my kingdom's shops for the armor- and it isn't available.

How much crystal does the armor require? While I think I have quite a bit, it IS possible that I don't have enough to offer it for sale. (I imagine that if it can be made, DEF 37 armor would require a LOT of crystal...)

I don't remember exactly how much, but it's enough that when I make troops with champ armor, I make them as a 3 man party, and then pay the gold to bring them up to 6 man, because the crystal cost is astonishing.

And a full suit of champ plate (it'll be mixed in with regular plate in the shop list) runs a couple thousand gold.

The Armor Set icon "Champion's Armor" that you see in the Tech Tree under Arcane Armor is an aggregate icon which is only there for informative purposes. You should have similar icons for (e.g.) "Leather Armor" (Leatherworking), "Chain Mail Armor" (Armor), "Plate Armor" (Heavy Armor), etc.

Also, if you hover over the "Champion's Armor" icon, you will notice that the Tooltip doesn't have an equipment slot icon (top left) while the other Champion's pieces have them. This is generally a good indication that this isn't a wearable piece of equipment.

Well, that's... complicated, isn't it? <LOL> Still, that does make sense, now that I have it spelled out for me.

Many thanks to you, and to everyone who responded to my question.
