DirectX 12 version running in DX11 mode

My computer seems to be running the directX 11 version of the game, despite launching it direct from the directX 12 executable in the games install folder. If I launch DX12 mode via steam the game opens to the loading screen, then drops back to the desktop with no error.

DX11 is fine, launching from steam or the executable.

Just asking if anyone has successfully launched the dx12 version on a Windows 10 computer. My GPU has the Maxwell architecture, so is DX12 compliant...

Counterintuitively, you cannot launch DX12 mode by running its executable. You need to launch AotS from Steam, then select DirectX 12 from the appearing window. If that not works, then DX12 mode is probably not yet ready for your configuration. Game is in alpha, and not everything is stable - on previous version, I've only managed to play 5-10 minutes with DX12 before crash/hang.

What GPU did you manage to get working on dx12 out of interest?

As Kane mentioned, build 0.55 currently only run in DX12 when we right-click in Steam & use the Launch DirectX 12 Version shortcut.  Running Ashes_DX12.exe from the game folder actually call & execute Ashes_DX11.exe.  Trying to execute Ashes_DX12.exe with Ashes_DX11.exe missing yield a Steam popup box with with the following message: Failed to start game (missing executable).  Alternatively, running the DX12 version from the steam shortcut work perfectly without Ashes_DX11.exe present.

It's working in dx12 after the update!! Some graphical glitches, will take a look tonight. One thing I did notice is that I couldn't start a multiplayer game in dx12 mode, it's not supported yet? Will try single player tonight!!

Little update:

Since build 0.60, executing Ashes_DX12.exe rather than using the right click Steam option launch both DX11 & DX12 version of the game.  This result in two processes & game instances loaded side by side.

I've reported this internally as we have experienced it ourselves on Friday. Thanks for letting us know!
