Quick questions on ship roles

1) Are the definitions of these moddable? I know I can mod what they do in combat, but can I mod what makes a ship a guardian, an escort, an interceptor, etc.?

2) What makes a ship an assault? I've figured out the all the other ship roles, but I don't know how to make an assault ship.

Thanks in advance!

Tiny: Support if Value is greatest, Interceptor if Threat is greatest, Guardian if Fortitude is greatest

Small: Support if Value is greatest, Assault if Threat is greatest, Escort if Fortitude is greatest

Medium: Support if Value is greatest, Assault if Threat is greatest, Escort if Fortitude is greatest

Large: Support if Value is greatest, Capital if Threat is greatest, Escort if Fortitude is greatest

Huge: Support if Value is greatest, otherwise Capital

And, of course, you can override the role designation in the ship designer.

Can you expand on what you mean by threat and fortitude? Is that weapon strength and shield/armor strength respectively?

#all modules have a fortitude stat, a value stat and a threat stat (though in many cases it is zero). These are summed for the whole ship and then it's role is determined using roughly the table that Petri outlines above.

just to expand a bit more ..  more defenses = higher fortitude    more weapons = higher threat   more support = higher value      more to it than that but this is the jest
