Question about shard grafic

Hi,

in SK, when i build a shard, it look like this:

 

 

now, i remember this was not always so, they were looking like shards in LH, with the light streaming up to heaven. What do i have to change to get this back, because it looks so much better?

I reload  game at turn 76 and all of a sudden it looks really nice:

 

Then i start a new game, and again there is no difference between build shards and shards that have not been build.

Is there a setting with which i can enforce this , regardless of reloading?
