Search only returns programs and control panel items, no other files

from Stardock Forums

Upgraded to Start8 version 1.56.  Can't use search any more to find files on the computer--it worked fine before the upgrade.  Anything entered in the search box only returns results from "Programs" and "Control Panel--nothing else.  When I click on "See More Results", a file explorer window opens and then instantly closes.  Windows 8.1's regular search features work okay.

Yes I do...and I've tried unchecking and rechecking that option with reboots in between all with no change.  Note that I have Start8 working fine on 2 other Windows 8.1 PC's and on 2 Windows 10 laptops.  It's only this one that doesn't work.

Please run a SFC /scan in an elevated command window. Let me know the results.

Ran SFC /scannow  ("/scan" is not a valid parameter in Windows 8.1)  Result:  Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations.
