First impressions and some feedback

I just bought Servo and played the tutorial and the 2 campaign missions.
(I'm a longtime RTS player, about 7 years of wc3, master league in sc2...)

Some things i noticed:

  • When I press the hotkey for an ability which targets a specific unit rather than being AoE, it would be nice to have some kind of feedback, that I have currently selected an ability. (e.g. change the cursor model to a crosshair).
  • Additionally, when hovering over a unit, the colored outlines appear to show, which unit I would be targeting. While this is pretty nice, to me it feels like the outlines don't appear instantaneously, but after a (very short) delay. However, this somehow doesn't feel 100% right to me, I would prefere the outlines to show up at exactly the moment I am moving my mouse over a unit.
  • Attack ground does not work at all. (expected the units to move and attack enemies on their way)
  • The mouse scroll speed is simply too slow for me, even if I raise it to the maximum. Mouse Scroll Acceleration can not be completely disabled, even when setting it to the minimum. All in all I would prefer faster mouse scrolling without any acceleration.
  • A very minor thing: When selecting the factory and right clicking on a servo portrait in the top left corner of the screen, I expected to set the rally point on the servo I clicked. Instead it just selected the servo.
I didn't read through the whole forum, so i apologize if some of the things I wrote were already mentioned in the past.

I really like this game so far and I think it definitely has great potential.

You're right, I can't get attack move to work either. It was working last patch, but barely, was a pretty rough early implementation of it.

Try drag scroll instead of push scroll, if you hold MMB down while dragging the mouse it'll move the camera around really fast based on where the cursor moves. This way you can kinda flick your wrist to move the camera because you don't have to move to a side of the screen, in addition to it just being way faster than push scroll. One patch a few months back push scroll broke for me, so I fell back on drag scroll, now when RTS games don't have it I get annoyed. It is perfect for nudging the camera short-medium distances very fast.

Thank you for this piece of advice, sadly my MMB is pretty hard to press and I often accidently move the mouse wheel while doing so.
I think I'll just have to wait until it gets changed. Shouldn't be too much effort I guess.

I also noticed another thing: when moving the cursor over the mini map holding the left mouse button, the camera movement is delayed. That also kind of annoys me.

Thanks for the feedback.

We'll take a look at attack move to see what's up.

I got a minor thing I don't feel like making a whole thread for. I notice the buildings and servos don't accept orders now until they have finished dropping (which fixes a bug where you could make factories appear to be mid drop forever I think?), which has lead me to mistime it a few times and hit an upgrade etc before the building is done dropping and not realize it didn't go through. It is a little annoying having to wait for servos to become responsive as well. The delay itself isn't really the problem for me but rather that it doesn't accept the orders while dropping. If the orders were queued for it to execute once the drop is complete it'd be fine.
