Search programs not working

I've been using Start8 for some time now and I recently uninstalled and re-installed it.   After the reinstall, Start 8 on windows 8.1 doesn't seem to search for programs when I type a program name in the "Search Programs and Files" field under the Start button.  I know the program is installed and if I go out to the Metro start screen and use the search field out there, it finds the program.   It seems there must be a setting or something that is preventing Start 8 from searching programs.

I'm seeing the same thing, but a bit worse.  Start8 search isn't able to pull any results.  For example, if I search "Windows", not one file or program is returned.  It just says "No Items Match Your Search".

The default Windows search via the Charms Bar works great, so I don't understand why Start8 is not working.  It used to.

This is the only real reason I use Start8.  I need to be able to quickly pull up files, folders, or programs via the Start Button.

As of now, this is completely broken.

Start8 1.56 on Windows 8.1 with latest updates.
