Sipyards

I just ran into a problem where the available ships to build loses ships from the list.  I received the idle shipyard and clicked on it and was only able to construct freighters.  I am early in this game and need to construct Colony and constructor ships.  They did not appear on the list.  I went to a previous save and they were there.  I played back to that place and when I went to build they were no longer on the list in any of my shipyards.  I do not know why they disappeared.  I played other games well past the point I am at and was always able to build at least colony and constructor ships.  I am running the release version of windows 10 Pro 64 bit.  Any help would be appreciated.
