Ashes: Extreme Zoom II

Pre-beta zoom in

Individual unit zoomed in.

Pre-beta zoom out

Zoom out.  You can’t easily see it but it’s just to the SW of the Seed (the huge building in the center)

The units of Ashes aren’t instances of each other.  What we mean by that is that every single unit in Ashes is a unique object. We could (if we had the art budget) ensure that every single one of the thousands of different units had slight variations. We don’t mean cosmetics only but we could let a particular unit have a particular weapon or change in their model.  This will have significant benefits in the future.

BTW, the zoom out you see here is the user zoom level.  We may allow further zoom out but at that point it’ll become an abstracted view.

The next founder’s build is this week!

Yep. That zoom is what's in the game.

we hope to have some surprises in too in the UI dept.

I like the idea of veterancy in the units, it would be nice if they did level up and gain strength and or features.  I know you have mentioned that armies won't be disposable and veterancy would make a few players think twice before sacrificing a large group of units.   It sounds like there's a lot of features you would like to implement budget willing ? I'm assuming if this game gains a lot of traction with all the dx12 advertising and I turn a lot of sales, does that mean it potentially gets some more team funding from stardock ?

yeah that would be great if it sold very well, so for their expansions, it will be very worthy :-D

I meant to ask this a few times but the picture of the unit, the unit itself has a black blocky thing, I assume that is a placeholder for another weapon system?

I think this was answered months ago but I would like to ask again.

About the zoom, it looks really nice and as I mentioned before the zoomed in textures look a lot sharper than before, amazing!

Looks good, I can't wait to try it for myself. I'm excited about the zoom/up changes. I just love using zoom as a movement tool and I'm glad you guys gave a little bit more to us who enjoy that .

Ladies and gentleman, let me give you a good life lesson.  Don't browse the Ashes forums whilst drunk on a mobile device.  You will end up seeing an old post and because you're drunk and on mobile not realize it's a post that has been here for 6 months.  You will then reply saying that you are excited for this new feature that has been in the game for 6 months because although you couldn't see the photos on mobile you assumed that they were showing a bigger zoom range.....

Sorry about that :P
