Upgrade to Windows 8.1

To upgrade to Windows 10, you must be running Windows 8.1.  For almost a year now, I have been trying to instal 8.1 but always get a prompt to remove Deskscapes.  I have done this but everytime I get the same error message - To continue uninstall the Deskscapes App. I have done this buit still get the same error message.

I have got to the point where I had given up on installing 8.1 but I now need to to install windows 10.

Any help gratefully received

No.  To upgrade to Windows 10 you need to be running an OS newer than XP, that's all...;)

If your current OS is 7 you do not need anything added/updated.  You simply update directly to 10.

You ARE talking about a PC OS upgrade?

people hes on Windows 8.0... and can't get 8.1 to install..  And u need 8.1 full uptodate before u can upgrade to win10,

ON windows 7 u need Windows 7 Sp1 fully updated before you cna upgrade.

You will need to go into Regedit, and manually remove all traces of Stardock entries.. that should clear up all issues regarding windows thinking u still have deskscape install.. FTW this will also remove allll stardock related registry including Start 8 etc.

I highly recommend uninstall all Stardock software before cleaning the registry out.. Upgrade . then reinstall all stardock programs


also theres a much easier way to update Windows 8 to 8.1 with out the need to use Windows Update to do it..

Download a Windows 8.1 ISO and run it like a normal windows upgrade.. this bypass the need to use Windows Update method..your windows 8 key will still reman activated on windows 8.1 weather u use the Windows update route or Windows 8.1 ISO path

get a windows 8.1 ISO directly from MS @ http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
