Post Your 3D Printed Galactic Civilizations III Ships

One of the new features in the 1.2 update was the ability to 3D print ships you have designed in the ship designer. You can either print it yourself if you have a 3D printer, or order one in-game from Sculpteo.

One of our developers ordered a ship that he created, and I wanted to share. If you have printed or ordered a GalCiv III ship, please post the image so we can see what you created.

I tried to use that service but I got an error about needing stardock to approve design or something like that?

macrossVFX222,

You shouldn't need any approval for the designs.  Where did you see the error message?  What ship design did you try to upload?  Any information you could provide would be very helpful!

It had an error that said 'Stardock needs to approve' so I ignored this whole ship printing excercise until a few nights ago when i tried again......

This time I registered an account and exported the ship to local and updated manually and its working fine (but a 89.99 sticker price for my battleship is a bit much for me)

I will try to upload directly from game tonight and see if I see a the approval status again

Honestly I don't think this is a game problem... My guess is a registration issue on their side which they probably fixed :)

Is there any way to get to the ship designer without being in a game? If not, is there a way to unlock the technology limits? I lost all my data in a hard drive crash, and I'd like to create ships without having to play a game for hours and hours to get the required techs. I have a good friend with a 3d printer, and I'm itching to get some designs printed!

Have you tried changing the type of material at checkout? Or if you can decrease the size of the ship?

No, currently you have to start a game to use the designer.  You can unlock all tech using the console and typing in 'unlock'.

Put in my first order with Sculpteo... I've worked with them before. Printing medium ships at 1.5 inches long, with Resin... I'll be interested to see the result.

Its definitely the size..... will try something smaller and see what happens :)

Anybody else got any luck in getting 3D printed ships? I would like to see more, especially before and after painting!

Mine all break the boundaries of what they can do lol

Did you get yours Gauntlet?

No, they cancelled the order as they were too complicated... I haven't had the heart/time to try again.

We probably need to stick to the motto: "Perfection is Achieved Not When There Is Nothing More to Add, But When There Is Nothing Left to Take Away"

How do you bring up the console?

and yet, "Quantity, has a quality, all its own."

I'll try to put mine in and see...  I think some of my models are less complicated than Gauntlet's :)

If I post pictures next week then you know they did it :)

and complicated = good  (if you guys haven't seen Gauntlet's ships.... check it out)
