Cannot uninstall StarDock 8 and Modern Mix in Windows 10. Keeps reinstalling on Restart.

I have used Programs and Features to uninstall both StartDock 8 and ModernMix "successfully" in Windows 10 but upon restart they return in the Start Menu.

Anyway to remove the win 8.1 version.   I'm on Parallels vm.

TIA for any help.  Mike

I'm not running Win 10 yet but perhaps looking in the start up folder and deleting them from there? Maybe....

I'm in the same boat.

I want to uninstall all Stardock products that are currently installed to see Windows 10 as its base setup is . . . . then determine look into buying the newer version of Stardock apps.  In hind-sight I should have uninstalled before  the upgrade.

I've gone through the Uninstall program over and over and over, and with each necessary reboot, all programs are reinstalled/return.

Please help as its messing up my desktop and not even the Windows 10 Start Menu shows up.

Thank you

That sounds like a Parallels issue not a Stardock one I am afraid.

Parallels licensed Start8 and ModernMix and I imagine their VM software is reinstalling the apps, so you may need to contact them for technical support on how to stop that happening.

I have not used Parallels myself, but there should be a menu option somewhere which turns this off.   Anything called Windows 7 mode or similar perhaps.

So even though all of the desktop enhancements that I bought directly from Stardock are the problem of Parallels?  No additional VM software, just the desktop package a couple of years ago directly from Stardock?

Parallels also licensed them so in the VM it will be reinstalling the ones from them.  In other words your VM is reinstalling them not us.  Either that or your VM isn't actually saving any changes you are making and thus rolls back to when they were installed.

Neither Start8 or ModernMix from Stardock are capable of reinstalling themselves once uninstalled.

The only other option is the uninstallers are not working at all due to some conflict between the two in which case disable the services and then reboot and delete the directory.

Thank you.  I will contact them.

I thought Parallels VM was for Macs, not part of Windows 10 on a traditional pc.

Again, I will look in that direction.

This is indeed a Parallels thing.

Uncheck "use Windows 7 look" in your view dropdown.

Then you can uninstall stardock (Or not, you can toggle it on and off.)
