Windows 10 - Cannot Save Game

I upgraded my computer to Windows 10 on 30 July 2015. While Galactic Civilizations 3 seems to run fine, I noted that my gave saves were not working (Manual or Auto). There is no direct indication (e.g. error message) that the saves do not occur. When starting the game later (e.g. the next day) the saved games listed are the ones last saved prior to the Windows 10 upgrade (i.e. 29 July).

I uninstalled and reinstalled GalCiv 3 twice, but the problem remained. I have even started a new game (which works just fine), but cannot save it even from the beginning.

Please help!

I uninstalled everything (Galactic Civilizations 3 and Steam. I deleted the GalCiv3 folder under C:/Documents/My Games. I then reinstalled Steam and then GalCiv3. I set the properties for GalCiv3.exe to Run as Administrator. It is working now. I am not sure which of these steps were required, but it would seem that there was some issue with rights allowing the program to access the save games folder.

If anyone is having issues with Win10 and GalCiv3

1) Run Steam an administrator. Do this once and the 'cannot save' issue tends to go away

2) go to G:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012 and re-run the vissual c++

Those two things should fix you up

Thanks for this. It solved an extremely irritating problem I was having with Steam workshop.

When I upgraded to new hardware and a new Windows 10 license, I had some similar issues and ran the Steam agent once as administrator and it all resolved.  I am convinced it is something in the permissions for the GalCiv folder or a subfolder, but what do I know?  It never came back once it resolved and I have moved and renamed and reinstalled and manipulated the Ga;Civ folder many times since then.
