Still possible to update fresh retail DVD install of Galactic Civilizations 2 Ultimate Edition?

I'm currently re-installing games on a new PC, and having some trouble with Galactic Civilizations II Ultimate Edition. I have the retail DVD, and after installing from that, I am unable to login to my Stardock account for the purpose of downloading updates. This game's update process is the only thing that's having this problem; other ways of accessing my Stardock account (e.g. using my web browser to post this message) work fine.

Is it still possible to login to a Stardock account from a fresh install of Galactic Civilizations 2 Ultimate Edition from the retail DVD for the purpose of downloading updates? Or is downloading the whole thing from my Stardock account now the only way to get  the most up to date version?

Register your game with us here: https://www.stardock.com/accounts/login?page=register 

Then you can download the latest version of the game from your My Downloads page. That's the only way to obtain the most up to date version, aside from having it on Steam.
