Feature Request

Hi Stardock,

I have two feature requests for Start10: first, i'd like to have the option to use the OS default start button and not a custom image of any kind, like ClassicShell does allow me. Second, i'd like to pin Metro apps to the top of the startmenu the same way as classic win32 apps.

Thanks.

Start10 does none of these at the moment.

While it does have a button "Default" for its start icon settings, that defaults only to a custom Start10 image, just like the extra "Start10" button does. None of these options gives me the default unaltered Windows 10 start button

And while Start10 can pin apps to the large "All Programs" list, it isn't able to pin them on top of the startmenu with the 10 or so most recently used programs. To clarify, i want to pin the Settings app to the top of the startmenu, NOT to the "All Programs" list.

I am obviously missing something as pinning a modern app to the start menu works just fine.  You can right click on say the settings app, or any other modern app and it will be pinned.

Regarding the flag button, Microsoft contacted us with Start8 and requested we not use that image.  It has become apparent that Microsoft have failed to take any action regarding other apps and due to an OS change this will be making a return in Start10.

Not to hijack this thread...but I can't find a "Features Request" topic area. So here's my request; Can you add the power menu to the right click option when clicking the start button. I use that a lot, a whole lot.

Hi Neil, thanks for answering.

Regarding the start button: i had thought that it would be possible to use no custom image at all and let Start10 just use the default OS button. If that isn't possible, due to technical or licensing issues, nevermind.

Regarding the pinning of modern apps, i've made a short video trying to pin the "Settings" app to the start menu:

What i'm also missing from Start10 are the Modern Apps at all. There's no "Apps" folder in the start menu (ClassicShell has it), and after enabling "Modern UI-Apps" for showing up on the right side of the start menu, Start10 does show me an empty folder.

Sorry for all the comparisons to ClassicShell, but as i have two PCs but only one Start10 license, it's the natural thing to compare to for me.

Have you disabled the feature in Start10 to show Modern UI apps (Desktop page)?  They would typically show up in a folder called "Modern UI applications" under all programs.

Also did you ever use Start8 and did that show Modern UI apps for you?

Thanks for the note, i had indeed completely missed that option. Now pinning apps works as expected, and the "Modern UI-Apps" on the right side and the "Modern UI applications" folder under all programs also does show up. Problem fixed, thanks. :)

I did use Start8 from the very beginning of Win8, but hadn't used any apps as i've had UAC disabled back then, so i can't say anything about that.
