No items at end of Battle?

Hey Everyone. New to Servo, playing offline.

I read that your supposed to get new parts whenever you finish a battle? (Win or Lose) But whenever I finish a Campaign mission, or a Skirmish game with the AI, All I get is Dropship XP and some credits to buy loot crates.

Is this a known issue?

The amount of credits I win isnt that much either....

We've been playing around with this for a while.

In the build you've got, you ought to be getting enough credits to buy the first loot crate (give or take). The idea was that you'd do that "to get the part".

But, it hasn't been very popular. We're trying out a model where you get a part after each game now and a little less credits. Should be in the next update.

When is the next update? :D

And that idea sounds much better, I think. It will make playing the game a bit more rewarding. :D

We haven't said yet because we're not entirely sure. Don't want to announce it before we know. It should go into testing this week. Rest depends on how quickly it makes it through testing.

Might I make a suggestion then?

Steam has a 'beta' option that you can opt-in for different games, even though Servo does not take advantage of this feature yet.

Perhaps, having the public also test out the Beta builds could help speed things up? The game 'Planetary Annihilation' has this feature with 'PTE' builds that people can use to help the deam debug, and balance existing things as well as new features.

I beleive that Servo can benefit greatly from public opinions on test builds before they go public.

We agree on getting feedback from folks. That's why we're doing this. The whole of early access, for us, is an alpha/beta test.

We do use Steam beta branches internally for our daily playtesting. That said, those builds are RAW. They don't get any QA before they go up. If they're bad, we scuttle PT and just go make a new one. It would be officially "not good" to dump those live, even for early access;) Hence the QA testing I'm referring to.

Once we exit early access, I can see us using the beta branches to let folks test early stuff.

Patches come so fast around here, I don't think having a second beta branch for unstable/experimental builds would be that useful. Just having to set up a way to copy profiles over etc sounds like a lot of work. Also I'm glad Jacob and Graham get to find bugs like 'lamps crash the game' and not me.

When patches can't come out with Dave's programmer art anymore (post launch) it'll probably be way more useful. For now they come fast and we get to say our piece on new content while maps are still being greyboxed and many things use placeholder art

You don't like my art? Damn. You'll hate the next update then. I've started making placeholder icons for all the new powers (adding too many for art to keep up ATM).

This current update has taken a bit longer than we'd like. Future ones should be a smidge faster.
