SD anounces SK release. Another one too soon?

SD i do love the game and wish it the total best.  But as you know there was a tremendous negative with the release  of GC3  being too soon.  Now to be fair it is hanging is at 73 % approval and the vast majority of those 74% still would have liked a another beta of two on polish and balnce (my self included.)

I understant budgets driving schedule, and frogboy is much smarter that one the pros /cons regarding release date.  Personally i do not care cause i'll have fun and i trust SD will be doing rapid patches to resolve issues.  Many others will not.

Based on 5,4 my concern is you are opening yourself for to many flames on balance and lingering bugs,  Another pass (or two could resolve a high  of these )

I just hate to see the negatives GC3 generated be piled on SK.  Wish the best of luck & i will be a supporter

Tough one to call. I think the game is pretty much ready for release. Do agree that 5.4 brought some changes that aren't going to help, but I trust them to give it a swing in the right direction the upcoming two weeks.

Besides balance I think the game is really ready for release actually (do agree with you that GC3 could have used a month extra beta, but in the end we don't have to run the business and SK already got a few extra months of development).

Could be i am over reacting.  Lots of differences GC3 vs. SK  For on the total stability of SK.  While the are some bugs to worked out, I agree balance is  is the big problem and probably the easiest to fix.  BUT the best way to fix?  It's make changes and send it out to all of us for feedback rinse and repeat.  I mean 5.3 -5.4 almost 'broke the game' balance was so bad.    As i said i am a BIG fan and Frogboy is one smart cookie.  I just truly hate to see a swarm of negatives due to simple problems that another round could have fixed

I have been this games biggest cheerleader, and that won't change assuming the balance is fixed, but a patch before release to make sure balance doesn't swing too far in the other direction is an absolute MUST. Please consider it your highest priority to give the beta testers another swing at it before launch. That's (balance) the only thing I can see being a true negative if it is not addressed.

Otherwise, no, it's not too soon. It's one of Stardock's best games. Period.

Oh, not to mention that those strange bugs, i.e. the FOW bug, the inability to attach mobs on shards, and the few others that linger that are pretty annoying need love before, but I'm sure you know that. Just saying it to hear myself say it.

I posted in the other thread but I don't know if more betas would help this game at this point. Get rid of the big bugs and you have a B level game. That's not bad honestly and something I'll recommend to my friends to buy. I'm very interested in the next few patches to see what they change. I just hope they don't add something big and buggy. Little things will happen.

The biggest thing the game has for it is that it's much easier to play than most games like it out there. Endless Legend is great but incomprehensible sometimes. Age of Wonders III is both incomprehensible and has a close to impossible learning curve. It's just too complicated. Sorceror King isn't hard to understand and is pretty simple (mostly). It's actually why I appreciate how simple combat is and can see the concern with layering more to combat.

Looking forward to 1.0 and hope they just get out the big bugs and balance. The game's in good shape otherwise.
