Stardock Announces Sorcerer King Release Date

-Players can begin the quest to save the world from imminent doom on July 16th-

Plymouth, MI – June 30, 2015 – Stardock, software and video game developer, announced today that its new fantasy turn-based strategy game Sorcerer King will release on July 16, 2015.

In the game you play as the leader of a city-state in a world filled with magic generated by the “shards,” but the self-styled Sorcerer King has begun to destroy the shards and use their magic in a quest to become a god. You must build a kingdom and raise a force powerful enough to stop him while at the same time dealing with rival factions who only care about conquering more land and resources for themselves. Time is limited: the Doomsday Counter keeps track of the Sorcerer King’s progress toward godhood. Can you stop him in time?

You’ll don the mantle of one of six powerful sovereigns; the Wizard, the Commander, the Tyrant, the Guardian, the Priest, or the Tinkerer. You may also create your a custom sovereign to halt the march towards doomsday. A random map generator offers unlimited replayability while story-driven quests provide a rich narrative experience.

City-building, item-crafting, monster battling; all of these familiar tropes are found in Sorcerer King, but there is a twist: you've already lost the world to the Sorcerer King. Now you must take it back before he destroys it.

Sorcerer King is available now via Steam Early Access at store.steampowered.com/app/241990/ for $39.99, and will enter full release on July 16. To learn more, please visit www.SorcererKing.com

Wow, little over two weeks? That's great news! Will we see another patch before then? The current build is a bit rough and I'd like to have our site's review ready for launch :-)

Looking forward to it, though it's during my vacation. :) Hope to see another update before release too, so I can at least play that before leaving for vacation.

It doesn't thrill me that it's being released in two weeks but two weeks is a lot of time to just spend on balancing and fixing specific bugs. I actually enjoyed 5.4 more than I had before because it was a lot harder than before. The last battle was HARD! I only won because Tanis was literally a god before all men otherwise I would have lost miserably.

The game isn't far off and so release isn't a bad idea because they aren't adding anything new. We are mostly concerned about bugs and balance. We've also played the game quite a bit as we've gone along. It's going to be really hard to review the final. I wouldn't be able to do it without bias one way or another. I also need a better machine.

If I were to review it now then I'd give it around a B- on a grading scale. I keep wanting to give it a lower grade but that only because my view of the game suffers because of what I'd love to see them do not what they've given me. My view doesn't have to be right. I love the game otherwise I wouldn't waste time on it. I look forward to it in two years especially.

Too early, too many bugs.

There IS a few left, but they're not insurmountable. Let's hope that they're all fixed in the next two weeks.

Well, I sure hate the bug that makes me unable to End turn or open the menu. It has happened atleast once in literally every game I've started in 5.4, and it doesn't go away when I load the game. To put it short, I can't complete any games at all. So IMO it's not very playable until that's fixed.

I admit that there is some concern. I'm not exactly sure why they do release it to weeks after their weeklong vacation. However, we'll see how it goes. I hope for the best!

Fixed :)   It was a quest issue with battles...turning off 'Always Auto-Resolve Overwhelming Victories' should fix that for 5.4.

Most of the rough balance introduced in 5.4 has been resolved, and the major bugs are in our cross-hairs.

We're also looking into Sovereign Casts not taking the unit turn...may be too late to get in in safely for 1.0, but we're investigating :)

This game will turn out great.

Completely agree,  I just hate to see the trolls flame it as it can have negative impacts on it.

I think it is PDG now considering it late beta, but if i paid for 5.4 as a "finished product" i admit i would be disapointed

There will always be complaints on balance.

You should see the Starcraft forums. :)
