Things We're Working On

Hi everyone,

Next week Stardock is closed for the July 4th holiday, so you won't hear much from us. That said, we're working on a bunch of stuff for after we get back from the break. On our hotlist of things we want to get out to you:

  • Crash reporting - this should help us figure out why some of you crash instantly or at some point during gameplay.
  • Combat balance - lots going on with this; it may be the first thing you get so you have time to give us feedback. :)
  • DirectX 12 support - this won't appear until our first major alpha update, but it'll be available before Windows 10 ships.
  • Save/Load game support
  • Multiplayer lobby chat
  • And lots more!

Granted 'and lots more' is a cop out, but there really is a lot more happening behind the scenes that we're not ready to shed light on. :D

Update to the OP: For those who've joined the Steam Group for Ashes Founders, I've created a new forum that's private to owners of the game. You can also find me in the group chatroom during the day when I'm at the office (reminder - we're closed next week).

Great to hear, I really hope you keep up the excellent communication.  No matter how long it takes to finally reach release, I've noticed alot of founders access/early access game start off with great communication and end up not saying anything for weeks at a time.  Just a weekly this is what we're working on we haven't forgotten about you would be wonderful.  Also shout out to Frogboy because he has been so active on the forums and it is really excellent to see.

Keep up the great work!!

Is there going to be multiple factions with unique units to choose from ? It would be nice because it adds some depth and a bit of color to the game. So far the game is awesome. I really like the squad based unit combat and the control points. GOOD STUFF.

Yes, there is another faction called the substrate, IMHO with way cooler looking units. The art isn't finished yet for it though, still a few months out.

Awesome, understood and glad to here there are more factions in the works. Hope there are a few more as well. I think that was where Planetary Annihilation fell flat. No different units or factions. Even Supreme commander FA had different factions with different units so I was very puzzled by that. Thanks for the quick response and i really like the game even in its early stage.

Since people are talking about feel and uniqueness.

I wish the current faction gets more flavour, not sure why but the units and especially the buildings look a bit generic and dont really look cool at least compared to sins of a solar empire.

Also getting a throw back to the unit speed and how the game feels slow to me, maybe having better unit animations and more stuff moving on the units and buildings themselves can help a lot.

And since this game is being made as a faster sins of a solar empire on land i guess we can also compare graphics and art style ;).
