A quick question before I buy the founders edition.

I am a huge fan of supcom/TA and so ever since I first saw Ashes I have been barely containing my excitement.  However, I still haven't founded.  I am about to pull the trigger but the recommended specs (especially the 4gb Vram) are kinda worrying me atm.  I have an i7 920 OC to 3.5ghz, 24gb of 1600mhz dominator ddr3, and a 660 ti 2gb gpu.  Can anyone with a similiar build tell me whether or not the game will even be playable right now or if I should wait until I get a new gpu.  (I realize it is in pre-alpha right now and probably not very optimized but I am a poor college student and can only buy so many games.  I would like the ability to play the games I do purchase)

Thanks,

Sarge

Edit: changed 600ti to 660 ti (I shouldn't post when I wake up, thanks for the correction)

A 600ti?

I'm guessing that was supposed to be a 660 ti, in which case you might be okay in it's current state.  It ran smooth as could be on my 680GTX.  They said they'd be working on optimizing it to run better on lower ram quantities, and your processing capability is basically the same.  If you didn't mean a 660 ti, then no, probably not.

I'd wait to see if you get clarification though, the maps we have are very small, unit counts are quite low compared to the thousands we're supposed to end up having.  It would probably end up coming down to just how impressive dx12 is.

We're being very conservative about what we are saying the requirement is because we have not done an extensive testing on it. So far, people with reasonable DX11 capable cards with 2GB VRAM are reporting reasonable results. I was able to get the game playable on my notebook with a 650M if I turned the graphics settings to minimum.

So the short answer is: It has a high chance of working, but we have not tested it.

DX12 will come into play more with higher unit counts on slower CPUs paired with high end GPUs. That is, if you have a core i5 with a Titan X, you'll see a huge difference. We expect it to increasingly more important the higher end GPU you have, including crossfire and SLI situations.

Thank you both for the reply I'm purchasing right now! :)

Another quick question, has anyone set up a mumble/TS for founders?
