Issue (Again) with Slow Save Dialog Window in Chrome

Once again, the bug with the very slow save dialog window has crept back into Chrome.  Everytime I go to save something, the dialog window takes up to 45 seconds for it to open, then another 10 to 20 seconds for the "save" button to be clickable.  The issue appears to have happened after the latest update for Chrome came through a few days ago.  The bug is just like the one that I reported a couple of months ago.

UPDATE: The issue does not happen with all skins.  I've tried about 8 different skins and it happens on 5 of them.

Current specs:

Windows 8.1 Pro (9600.winblue_r9.150322-1500)
WindowBlinds 8.12 (037 - Windows 8 Edition) - 64 bit OS

Wblind.dll 2015/04/21 10:40:ll
Wblind64.dll 2015/04/21 10:40:47
Wbsrv.dll 2015/04/01 12:36:18
WB8Config.exe 2015/04/21 10:40:09
Wbload.dll 2015/04/14 14:31:02
Screen.exe 2015/04/01 12:36:08

RedneckDude... I wouldn't use IE11 in a million years!

Uvah... Sorry, didn't realize that I cross posted this.

I use IE 11 and don't experience any problems.  Having said that I think all the browsers that are available do the same thing, get you to the internet.  When folks start having problems alot of times it can be due to a browser addon or extra toolbars.  Are you using any?

You also said this has happened after a recent update to Chrome, can you rollback to the previous version?  This would point out a possible problem with Chrome's latest update.  :sun:

The issue is not with an add-on or extension; nor does it appear to be an issue with the latest update from Chrome.  I did some testing yesterday that involved removing extensions and finally rolling back to a previous version of Chrome.  But, none of those things resolved the issue.  It is clearly an issue with certain skins in Windowblinds.  I am currently using 8 Plus Blue and have no issues; but, if I use Lantana or Cadiz by Essorant, or Alloy by Ross Fairbanks, then the issue happens.

Try to change the combo box button from bmp to png in SKS.That would fix the issue temporary instead of rolling back to old version.I hope it would help you.

I have the same problem and i can tell you its not related to windowblinds.
There is bunch of topics about this on the www.
I have to wait solid 10 seconds until save rpomt pops up on a SSD when i use chrome its always on the first save.

strangely any other browser instantly promts me with the save option.
And im not even using any WB skin atm and the problem exists.

Really sounds like a browser problem.

I haven't had much luck making combo boxes pngs. While it seems to work there is always some programs that treat the combo boxes as bmps regardless. From a skinning aspect, I've found the safe way to make rounded corners is to make the background the same color as the dialog background and paint my buttons over that.

What program is that gmc2

My PSP7 for sure, which is an oldie and calls out for the sunk edge graphic. However I have also encountered it with some other programs that call out the read only box. I know that I have made these pngs with transparency in the past only to have had to change them back to lose the white corners. It's annoying.

I was only pointing out that making these pngs with transparency will not always provide you with the results one may desire. If you encounter this condition, there's the solution.

I can definitely tell you that it is a windowblinds issue.  I have been able to replicate the issue on 3 other computers, while using the skins I mentioned before.  There is NO issue when I disable windowblinds and there appears to be no issue in some other skins.  It might be the combo box issue that was mentioned before... I don't know since I have absolutely no skills in skinning.

Ok but im not running windowblinds i use the standart windows skin.
Windowblinds is unloaded and disabled.

Unless windowblinds changed something which i doubt since i reloaded the standart skin.

All im saying is that i do have the problem with chrome even without windowblinds beeing active in any form.
I mainly posted to let you know that you are not alone

benmanns... I have read the bug you reported regarding Chrome, as well as others online; but, your issue happens when actually trying to get the save dialog window to actually open.  The bug I am reporting directly with Windowblinds happens after the window dialog appears.  The "save" & "cancel" buttons, as well as, part of the window frame are slow to appear, and are not clickable until after several seconds.  I have seen it as long as 18 seconds before the buttons are clickable.  As I said earlier, I have tested the bug I am reporting and it only appears when using certain skins within Windowblinds.

well then it must be the file format if the problem vanishes when using certain skins.
You could also name a few skins where you encounter the problem this way we could replicate and try to help you fix the issue.
Or if you have Skinstudio you could also fix it on your own.

banmanns... I did name some of the skins with the issue in reply #6. :annoyed:   But, to repeat and add a few others to the list...

  • Lantana, Cadiz, Credo, or Corsair by Essorant
  • Chronos by Vad_M
  • Alloy by Ross Fairbanks
  • CompleX & Crux by LightStar

I'm sure that this is not all of them.  I have only tested skins A - D out of 28 that are installed on my machine.  I'm sure there would be more.

sorry for this late reply...

I was able to recreate the issue you described above with credo.

Still im unsure what causes the problem...
I first thought it might  be the flash on mouseover but that wasnt it.
SO i checked the buttons and compared a little then i thought about the section that has msstyles in it unsure about the name atm.

Im not sure if its related to combobox buttons-  msstyle mode
Or if the problem is caused  by scrollbar arrows...

Best would be to ask LightStar for example to look into it since im not owning the skins and im not going to manipulate Essorants stuff.

However i found something else...
A Hotfix driver of Nvidia that fitted my problem.
353.38 adresses chrome issues and crashes.
