I know this is not a Fallen Enchantress where we could modify our sovereign as we wanted, and probably there wont be such option on our units in SK (it was cool when they were changing look)

but that what is bothering me is that starting heroes (main heroes?) are looking worse than some common units, also there is far too less of them to choose. I mean they are dull, looking rly bad (only archer IMO looks nice)  and unfortunately I don't see a way to modify heroes in xml's as we could do that in FE like adding dual wielding sword for our sovereign

I agree... heroes are downgraded severely in SK.  No mount choices.  Either the hero has a mount or doesn't.  It never changes and there are no cool mounts to find.

Clothes don't change appearance - AT ALL.  Heroes look EXACTLY the same whether they are wearing nothing (gasp!) or plate mail!

Weapon choices are... um... TINY.  You can equip ONE type of weapon... or no weapon depending on the champion.

I have to say this is the biggest regression I've noticed.

so stardock, are you going to change anything in that matter ? heroes are shallow, pity that you changed so great feature for this.

Agree.
And regarding mounts: One of the sovereigns (warlord maybe?) had an ability that affected mounted units only. It was useless to me, only because my army did not include rider or paladin units :\
