Pinned folders to behave as sub-menu?

I'm using several pinned folders in .\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ in the root of Start8 - this works pretty well. But when I click on the item (the pinned folder) in Start 8, Windows Explorer is opened with the location instead of just expanding as a menu (which it actually does by hovering with the mouse-cursor).

Is there anyway to change this behaviour in Start8?  Or have custom sub-menus in the root?
