High Level Loot Box Feedback

Ok, so I have opened 3 of the 25k loot boxes so far and loads of other level boxes. Here is what I found:

All three 25k boxes gave me 2 Epic parts and some scrap. Of the 6 Epic parts I got from those boxes, I use 2 and sold the rest for scrap.

Of the several 10k boxes I have opened, I get anywhere from 2 - 4 parts from them and occasionally find something worth using. The rest get sold for scrap.

Of the several 5k boxes I have opened, I have so far gotten 2 - 3 parts from them and fairly regularly find something worth using.

Of the 1.5k boxes I have opened, I get 2 parts from them and finding something useful is hit or miss. Most gets sold for scrap.

Of the tons of 0.5k boxes I have opened, I occasionally get something useful from them but most stuff gets sold for scrap.

However, here is the real clincher...

1x 25k box costs as much as 2x 10k boxes + 1x 5k box. I have a higher likelihood of finding something useful with that spend than I do buying the 25k boxes.

1x 10k box costs as much as 2x 5k boxes and I get the same 2 artisan part guarantee from the 5k boxes plus at least 2 other parts, sometimes more, plus 2 sets of scrap, so 2x 5k boxes almost always wins against 1x 10k box.

The 1.5k boxes don't seem to be worth the price. They aren't really much different than the 0.5k boxes and I can buy 3x of those for the same price.

For 25k in cash, I can buy 50x (yes that is FIFTY) of the 0.5k boxes. When I buy 50 of the 0.5k boxes I almost always get at least 2 Epic parts, at least 3 Artisan parts, and at least 10 Better parts. And I get tons more scrap from selling the junk. The usefulness of the Epic parts from the 0.5k boxes are on par with the usefulness of the Epic parts from the 25k boxes.

So, the takeaway is that the best value for the money is buying the 0.5k boxes. If you want to feel like you made it like a bandit, then save up 25k and buy 50 boxes at a time. Otherwise, you feel like all you ever get is junk from them. Once you do 50 at a time, you realize just how much value is in them.

Or a max quality for Servos? My main is roughly 7500 quality, wondering how much higher I can get.

It's all about guarantees. There is some balancing to be done for sure, but the tradeoff is simply intended to be one of guarantee vs. price (at least in the build you have; it's a bit diff in the next update).

We'll certainly fix it so that it's not as out of whack as it is currently once we're farther. TBH, we haven't stressed too much about the cheap boxes being too good. Better for more people getting parts.

No quality cap. At a high enough level, you can top 13k pretty easily ATM.

Quoting Dracohouston,

Question I don't feel like starting a whole other thread for: Is there a level cap?

10 right now.

Do you plan to get much higher than that, and is xp gain roughly where it should be? A few of us have hit 9 :D

Then let me suggest that a 25k box provide 1 priceless, 2 epics, 3 artisan, and 10 better parts plus various other random parts. That would be a more sensible spend of 25k than buying 50 of the junk crates. As it is, 50 junk crates has a very decent chance of throwing up a priceless  on top of 2 epics, 3 or more artisan, and 10 or more better parts. Then make the 10k box do 1 epic guarantee plus 2 artisan plus 5 better parts and some other random parts and scrap. The 5k and lower can stay the same. That at least makes the two top boxes make economic sense while still making it mostly about the "guaranteed" parts. I mean, 50 junk crates gives you a whopping 100 parts to contend with, so it's kind of hard to beat those in value even with their random generation and heavy weighting towards common parts. It makes even more sense like this if you consider that you can buy priceless parts for 15k scrap. The 25k credits are much harder to get than the 15k scrap, so they should guarantee a priceless.

Probably not for 1.0.

The balance will be changing to address the screws, etc. It will get slower for sure.

And, as mentioned, there's certainly a fair/good chance of a reset or two before launch. The game isn't balanced yet.

Yeah, we'll fix it. The numbers/math in the new update are already pretty different, so give us some feedback on how that feels once you see it.

Yeah don't feel bad about rushing content at this stage I'm sure the way up at launch will be very different with the loot system Mr Pottinger has hinted at, loot box rebalancing etc

Oh and here's a suggestion, coop difficulties, it seems like at some point we're going to outgear the difficulties made for pick up games and pairs of coop buddies will get everything on farm eventually. I'd suggest using the difficulties you have as the various leveling difficulties, then adding 2 more, one for people in the last few levels, say 8-10, then another difficulty that isn't reasonable to clear without very good gear and max level. This would give you some kind of endgame beyond pvp against endgame mechs

More difficult than just raising numbers, but, couldn't higher difficulties have more advanced creeps like giving them extra abilities that much be dealt with?
