Solo Players

As a Stardock fan for many years and an older player I first want to thank the design team for their interest in our feedback.

I suspect the business model is aimed towards core gamers that like online PvP. I am not one of those. I like RTS and I enjoy sitting down and fiddling with games versus AI. Hence, not an uber gamer that learns all the best strategies.

That said, I have enjoyed the past two days learning the Servo layout and game play. Sadly, as other forum posts regarding rewards (loot, scrap, etc.), the cost-benefit of time grinding compared with being able to access better gear is something that needs adjusting. Assuming I don't follow advice of others in the forum (map 2, easy, buy second servo, run over to opponent base and kill servo and base, end in a few minutes) and I play map 1 at medium or higher, the standard grind lasts just under an hour until I've outlasted the many gauntlet runs from the AI and teched up high enough to crush his base. Based on what was earned (scrap and bits) versus what it costs to buy a loot pack with decent upgrades it appears it will take 20-30 hours of gameplay just to buy a random mid-grade piece of gear.  If I play a few hours a week just to relax, I'll not see the end pieces for a very long time.

Do I want Monty Haul? No, but perhaps an option (toggle) for solo players (not cheats mind you) to up the rewards.

Stardock staff, thanks for your efforts.

Forum folks, I'm all ears if what I've made some sort of operator error.

Thanks,

Fizz

The game is definitely setup for multiplayer right now. The AI isn't particularly good ATM, etc.

We do have a new loot system going in that should address a lot of this concern. It'll be in the update after the next one.

The campaign (which really won't be in much until the 1.0 release) will also help with getting you plenty of gear as you play through that.

I feel similar. I almost started a post on this yesterday

I love RTSs, RPGs, and Stardock.  I am not a young kid with a really high APM, or the type that takes on Insane enemies.  I am not huge on multiplayer (hasn't mattered, I haven't found any games).  I have played a lot of solo, and the loot comes slow.  I had time this weekend and played Servo over 10 hours.  I did try the Creep city map where you rush to level 4 and spam high level bloomspawn. All and all, the last 8 hours of it yielded few, if any, parts  I am excited over. There is no Diablo loot-lust and zero urge to squeeze in one more game.  Aside from getting better with the game, I don't feel I have progressed much past the initial loot from the Tutorial.  I am almost regretting the time spent with this game.

Aside from that, the game has some great looking graphics.  When I hit ESC and took a call, I found myself staring at the dessert terrain.  There a lot of surprising areas of details.

Do we get to keep any scrap/credits/loot from hours spent in the Alpha?  I am thinking I should give up and come back with there is a 1.0 release.

Sorry to hear that... Are you winning or losing the games?

There will probably be a data reset before 1.0. But, we'll do something to juice the folks who have already played.

We'll make some cost tweaks for the next update as a stop-gap (should be better for sure), but the real fix will be that new loot system.

I have won some, lost a few.  Lost a lot in the Co-op missions.  I play medium AI unless I am doing the creep city map (good premise).

It is fun, but I don't feel any progress from loot.

Can farm creep rock city solo pvp on insane for Crazy Money, because it isn't good at playing creep rock city you can win with just the creep cage

The insane AI has very good servos on its team so if you have difficulty doing this at first, try it on hard, you still get a lot of credits for it

Looks like Dracohouston beat me to it. It is true that playing on Insane at Creep City yields good credits. It takes me roughly 8-10 min to complete the game and you gain 1000 credits per victory.

I just rush all of the bloom spawns and get to rank 3 asap. I used to go until rank 4 to spawn the king creep but Ive found that simply rushing at rank 3 is a bit more efficient in terms of clear speed.

I can dig this. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the new loot system entails, but I hope it does help with that feeling of wanting to do 1 more game.
