Weapon stats

Showing DPS is great for making comparisons between weapons.  However, with armor now a regular thing, it would be useful to compare the actual unit of damage against expected armor values.

Knowing actual attack rates would also be useful for working out the expected value of special abilities.

Somewhat related: Does a 3x crit do an additional 3x, or 3x instead of 1x?  I've seen 0.5x and even 0.0x crit via modifiers, so I'm wondering if the damage would actually go down.

On this note, I found a drill that does 50 dps. It's one hand and you have to wear a shield in 2nd hand. It seems like that dps number is very high compared to other 1-handers.

The "Very Fast", etc. things aren't enough? What are you looking for?

There is no crit by default. 0.5x is due to an item that is adding that to everything (which is a good thing); agreed the display of it sucks.

I'd like seconds between attacks personally. A "very slow" weapon is a vague description if it also has a "3% chance to freeze" right next to it. If the weapon attacks every 1 second or every 2 seconds... you get the picture.

Yeah, that's what I figured;) We've been trying to avoid the "Wall of Text" in the weapon descriptions. Not succeeding very well at that, though. Interested in any ideas you all have for giving you the info you want, but not having a 16 line rollover.

For ref, the current breaks are:

Very Fast, under 0.5 secs

Fast, under 0.8 secs

Normal, under 1.2 secs

Slow, under 1.5 secs

Very slow, everything else (well, not the Continuous ones, but hopefully that's obvious).

If you're looking for the super exact proc data, then you'll be needing the number of attacks in that time, as well;)

Numbers.  Doesn't have be in your face everywhere, but available.  When something has a chance of an effect, I want to know how many chances I'm getting.

Example: I have swords with 10% chance to crit for 3x damage, but other weapons with a higher base DPS.  I want to compare the expected value of the crit, but I need a rate to calculate the dps over time.  Obviously it's not quite the same - randomness and armor to start with, but I'm still curious.

I think I remembered to put "modifier" in their. does 0.5x add damage to normally non-crit attack that crits, or reduce it?  Or does it have no effect on a weapon without crit, and the text shouldn't be there?

there is such cool artwork in the game it might be neat to allow a double click on a weapon to get a hi res  pic of it and some real detailed info for the numbers junkies out there.

Well, next build will have more numbers. Just pushed that change to the repo, actually.

The 0.5x crit modifier does nothing unless a crit is rolled. Crits are always bonus damage, so the 0.5x bonus damage would just be 50% bonus damage.

Yeah, more detail for those who want it. Or just an option to opt-into it perhaps.

We're committed to showing all the data. It's really just a question of what works best for most people as the default.

Right now I'm approaching the game from the perspective of an item grind. You should hide nothing as a default. It seems to me that anyone who plays for more than an hour will see the appeal of grinding for items and designing your mechs. And at that point they'll want all the stats.

I am having flashbacks of Everquest: Item links so large that they drop below the screen and you can't read the descriptions of the procs lol.

But ya I agree about the numbers, though you do show nice descriptions already for the abilities.  Perhaps for the two options (more detail, less detail) have, say:

More:

<Min hit> - <Max hit> (if you have one) -  <Speed>

<DPS> - <Crit chance> - <Crit Multiplier>

<Ability 1>

<Ability 2>

 Example:

10 min - 30 max - 1.2 speed

24 DPS - 5% Crit  - x1.5 Crit Dmg

Rank 2: Impale: 200 dmg

etc.

 Less:

Pretty much what you have now, but I wouldn't mind still having the speed numbers.... Thats just my opinion though.

Also, I don't recall seeing a total DPS in the overall servo stats like it shows for the armor types and stun resist, that would help if you have two weapons at least.

I'm pretty sure what we have now is about exactly what's in the More category (though we do have a few more things shown than in the last update).
