More portraits and logos in Gold?

Will the Gold release of Version 1.0 have anymore pics and logos, or should we be prepared to go with our creations for awhile?

I doubt it, though you never know.

You know you can easily add you own pics and logos though.

Absolutely, thank you. I've made 4 or 5 of the original Moo races, lol. I'm just having trouble finding good pics. I'm having no luck finding logos. Any suggestions as to good sites or sources for either? Thanks!

For Elemental I made new flags by blending together different elements of the existing ones in GIMP, that actually worked well, I also added some shading.

I just search google for logos or icons and add some additional filters to come up with a theme.

I have no trouble finding pics and logos, but one issue I do often have is trying to arrange the pic so that the area surrounding the body in the large picture is transparent so that I can use the stock backgrounds.   Haven't been able to solve that one yet.   Every time I try to save something from paint I get  a message that any transparency will be lost if I save it.

Any suggestions would be helpful.   Perhaps I just need to find pics that are all ready cut out.

Make sure you are saving the icon as a PNG. JPG doesn't have transparency. Also, download Paint.NET or Gimp (I prefer Paint.NET) the are free alternatives to Adobe Photoshop.

What tool are you using? And what format are you saving in they have to be .png, JPeg doesn't support transparency and I'm not sure if the game supports it either. If you are saving .png it's probably the tool itself that's the issue.

Try downloading GIMP it's free and is the next best thing to Photoshop.

Thanks, appreciate the suggestions.  I am embarassed to say what "tool" I am using.  I am not sure it qualifies for the title.  And the final nail...it's made by Microsoft.

I think I will try GIMP and then PAINT.net if that isn't working right.

Haha, no worries we have all used Paint Brush or MS Paint some time before.

I love the MOO races, and have about 8-9 of them in my game!  Getting good quality pics hasn't been easy.  I ended up using a mix of stuff that I found through Google Images.  Many are from Mass Effect, and I believe others are from various sci-fi games.  The bulrathi pic that I'm using is cool, though I'm not sure what the origins are.  I'll see if I can post it later for you.

TS22, thank you very much! I'll look for them!

Ok I'm not sure how to attach images to this so here's the link for the Bulrathi pic that I'm using:

I think it captures what the Bulrathi are about (plus samurai swords!).  If you send me instructions on how to post the pics, I'll send you the others that I'm using.

Yes the only ones who should be ashamed about ms paint are Microsoft. Having used both I'd  say paint.net is more approachable if you have never used a serious image editor before.

GIMP though is far more powerful and worth  learning to use. I'd have to say photoshop is the best but the price is too much for most amateurs including me, especially with gimp being available for free.

LMAO, that's the same pic I'm using. I have no idea how to post pics.

Anyone have any ideas?

I could give you my email if you wouldn't mind sending me them as attachments. I only have 4 or 5 MOO races....I need the rest!!! LOL.

i can also help for anyone who wants a particular logo (still within the GalCiv3 style) but doesn't know how to do it themselves.  I have professional experience with photoshop and other tools for static digital art.
