Factories and managing drone production

I know there is already some work on this, but here are my first impressions

When I build a factory, I want to immediately set the drone type and move on.  Construction sites don't have the factory interface though.  Work around is to find a factory producing default type and change that.  Might be nice if I could do B, W, (drone type hotkey), but maybe that would interfere with other build sequences.

Although, with the shared unit cap, a new factory mostly causes drones to be built from old factories, at least in the short term.

The way things end up working, it might be better to have a global drone configuration similar to the always available build menu.  You choose the ratio of drone type, and the ratio stays the same no matter how your cap changes.  Doing the ratio on new production might be easier, but having it try to maintain your overall unit composition could be good as well.

An easy way to set rally point for all factories is something I've wanted as well. Might not work if you set up a forward base somewhere, but that is already pretty tricky with new units appearing at old factories and such.  One way to manage this would be double-click or hotkey for all factories on screen, which would also make it easier to build a group of them.

This is something I really would like having as well. If I could just pick the drone while the factory is building that would be very handy as right now I build a factory, and comr back to it to find a whole bunch of melee drones that have appeared.

On this topic, being able to set a rally point with a right click would also be a big help when I want to assign or reassign multiple rally points quickly.

I agree with all of the above here. Global drone configuration, rally point for all factories, or at least setting drone type and rally point when you build the factory.

The ability to set all of your factory rally points is slated for the next big update (we're doing a small one in about a week; don't know if it will make it in there).

Good feedback on the rest. We like the concept of the drones and the relationship with the Servos, but the way the drones are fielded is a mess ATM. We've got some fixes/changes slated for internal testing next week. Keep the feedback coming.

One missing option for the drones, or i didn't find it, is to patrol or to follow or to guard a building or a servo. Another option i'd like to see, is to set the distance between a pack of drones. If i want them close to each others, behind my servo, or if i want them spread all around the servo at a good distance, and if i want them to fire at will, or to hold until the servo attack, etc.

About factories, the minimum should be to set what drones are built, unlike now where the Boring Drone is set by default.

The RTS Nightside, on Early Access, has an UI to select the factories, without selecting the buildings on screen, so you have quick access to the factories wherever you are on the map.

It could also be possible to have different factories for different drones. Less flexibility as you can't change the drones built from one factory, but some kind of tactical choice too. Or maybe you can change the drone if you build an upgrade to that factory ?

Yeah, we don't have any of that stuff yet. We've been focused on the bigger/newer bits. We will get the usual options for that stuff in before we officially release 1.0 for sure.

We are going to split the factory into two buildings. There are 6 to 8 drones on the list; half would go in the ground-based factory, half in the airfield. At least that's the plan.
