Exploit: get 6 planets to sponsor a shipyard

I'm not far enough in my game to test with a new shipyard, but with my starting one here is how it goes:

As I expand, I do not colonize the planet immediatly next to my home world (same solar system).

As I colonize new worlds, I add them as sponsors to my shipyard until there 5/5.
Then I colonize that small planet right next to my homeworld and it is automatically added as a sponsor of my starting shipyard, so I get 6/5 sponsors.

Still there as of 1.3.  Again, to reproduce: from your homeworld, start colonizing and add planets to your shipyard until you have 5/5.  Then colonize the second planet of your home star system.  You get 6/5 sponsering planets.

The exploits work only on colonizations, not when a planet shifts to your influence.

I agree.

Darn you. Why did you tell them.

Just had this happen, but got 7 planets, not 6.

I originally played with a 16 planet, then tried the bread basket start, which was a nice start.  But with all of the techs that allow you to cultivate bad tiles, I figured a 3 planet start nets you the most tiles overall, so gave it a try.  On my second 3 planet start, I didn't colonize the 2 bonus planets right away because you don't get ideology points for them.  And eventually ended up with 7 sponsors on my home shipyard.

Still there.

If you don't colonize any system before you build a starbase right away. This works for any system you colonize only one planet.

Yes this is still possible to do this but its really a minor issue. If you remove any sponsoring planet, you are unable to add it back.

I agree with larsenex. Never did the math. But unless your colonizing every planet in every system you find. With every planet by each other this is probably not better due to shipyard decay. I always lose that extra planet. It might work better with more shipyards though.
