Battlefield Briefing 5/01/15

Welcome Founders!

 

It was definitely a busy week for us and also an exciting one for Servo.  Yesterday our Founders Alpha went live, allowing all of the Founders to play the game.  This is the first time people outside of the development team have played the game, so naturally we have been on pins and needles awaiting feedback.  It's also still quite early on in development, with a lot of art etc not done yet, so it's a little bit like company coming over and your place isn't tidied up yet.

 

We knew there were bugs in the game, it is only an alpha, but unfortunately there is a bug with our bug reporting button in the game right now.  We think we have a fix for it and hope to get that resolved quickly, as it's a useful tool for getting information on bugs and feedback as well.  Until then Founders can share feedback and bugs with us in the forum or by e-mailing [email protected].

There is an informal Steam Group going to help Founders get together to play multiplayer games.  You can join it here if you are so inclined and join members for Co-op games this evening at 8pm CT, and for PVP games tomorrow at 8pm CT:  http://steamcommunity.com/groups/servogamers#

We've been doing a fair bit of iteration on Drones in the last week.  Drones are smaller units that you can create to support your massive Servos.  There are several different kinds of Drones, one heals anything nearby including buildings and Servos, others do various kinds of damage.  For awhile now these units have been free and automatically produced from a Factory but we're exploring other options, such as the player manually having to queue them up and giving them a cost.  It is part of an ongoing effort to keep these units useful, while making the game close out in a satisfying and timely way.  Giving them a cost, for example, would allow you to attack a player's economy and starve them of resources to create more Drones.
