Solo Single-Player Offline Skirmish Mode

If this has this and is (now or soon-ish) moddable it is a MUST BUY.

Dev response is preferred, I am a Founder on a few Stardock games already (come on GCIII).

I don't forsee too many mods for this game allowed (if at all). Think about it, every game mode, every type, you unlock gold and/or parts. If I could mod the game and make an easy way to unlock stuff, I'd be super OP in multiplayer PvP. Makes the game not fair.

But, skirmish is an option. I've not tried it yet, so it may be disabled, but I think I've seen a few people talk about it already so it's probably a working mode.

Hey well,

There is a skirmish mode against four difficulties of AI right now.

I think the easy way to fix that would to make custom modes not give out anything at the end. Sure, it makes it so you can't gain progress through them, but if you already have servos you are happy with you can fool around in all of the game modes you want to.

We've got around and around on the online/offline issue. Mods are certainly related.

The next build will see an online/offline profile system added. We want offline folks to have all the fun, but yeah, we can't let that break multiplayer.

You can imagine allowing mods in that mode, as well, I think. This game cries out for modding, but we do want to keep official multiplayer clean/fair.

Interested in any/all thoughts on this.

I like the idea of modding in this game. I agree, as a player I see the huge potential of Modding but as you mentioned, only if it keeps the multiplayer and campaign even. I agree also with someones post saying that if you are using mods you should not gain coins or servo upgrades because that will still make it unfair in multiplayer because you can have quicker games on higher difficulties gaining more coin and buying more loot crates faster. For me, I see the modding potential BUT the risk of not having equality in multiplayer would make me be against modding in Servo even though the benefits could be amazing.

I think modding in Servo is inevitable. We just need to spend enough time and thought on it (with help from you guys) on how to do it right.

I think it's pretty easy to see offline mode turning into "untrusted, cheat your butts off" mode eventually. We don't have any problem with that. If you were to go into that mode and play online, well, you're asking for crazy stuff to happen. But, that would allow you and your friend to play with mods.

We are uber protective of the sanctity for the 'trusted' multiplayer mode, of course. So, given that we're a pretty small studio, we've set mods aside for the moment because we simply can't do everything. Once the base game is done, we'll take stock of the feedback and start adding the most requested features.
