What are the weapon classes?

At the moment, I'm wondering whether piston arms count as fists, or if there is a piston head waiting out there somewhere.

 

It would be nice if there were something in the server builder which showed these relationships.  Say, on hover highlight parts that grant or receive bonuses.

Pistons are not fists.

Yes, if/when we add a piston-buffing part, it will say "Pistons" on it.

We're trying to keep things simple. Could use feedback on whether it's too simple/complicated/etc.

Hello,

It means classes are : fist, piston, dagger, sword, pistol (one handed gun), rifle (two handed gun) ? Is beam or laser different class, or only different damage type ?

A head with +15% melee damage is good for both Fist and Piston ?

A system with +5 Beam is good for both Beam pistol and Beam rifle ?

I've got a head that improves rifles, and a head that improves lasers, so I'm pretty sure they are different.

BXP_Godlib's comment makes me think that there is no head that buffs pistons.  They are strong early game but don't get as much of a buff later on.

Minor point: Do buffs apply to rank 1; put another way does a default +5 fist head give +25 or +20 at rank 5?

Correct, beams are (possibly confusingly;) not lasers. We are actually fixing some of that confusing overlap with some different part breakdowns in future builds. 

When in doubt, if you equip something and it doesn't bump your stats in the Hangar, it's not going to in the game. The exception is the rank'd stuff. We are going to be trying out more and more stuff tied to those to help with balance and creating more interesting choices of which Servo to take when.

Next build will have the big specials unlocked by rank as you play. The big missile barrage will be a later game thing, but it will have an early smaller shot. 

On the "do the buffs apply at rank one?" question... In your build, I think not. I don't have that build setup ATM, but IIRC, that has head buffs applying at rank 2. You can tell if you swap heads in the Hangar. If it changes the damage value there, it applies the buff at rank 1.
