Trap gifts

They don't look my gift horse in the mouth

I trade one of my planets for all sorts of goodies. I can get technologies, weekly sums of money, trades goods, whatever. It's the same planet over and over. I can get something like 900 credits weekly for this planet. They take ownership, but lose it due to my overwhelming influence. Perhaps the perceived value of a planet should be decreased in proportion with the influence of the originating side subtracted by the influence exerted by the planet itself. It seems a bit odd that the AI doesn't learn that this is a really bad deal. In the meantime, I get to poke fun at the AI for believing in something that's too good to be true.

Perhaps when you gift/trade planets to another faction, they should be temporarily/permanently immune to your influence, barring a set of defined circumstances, like war.

Temporary influence immunity wouldn't help them much, and permanent immunity would be potentially game-breaking. I'm thinking that a foreign influence tolerance cap at 1.5x for a gifted planet should suffice. Any more than that and the perceived value should go drastically down, such that you should need to pay them to take the planet off your hands.

I'd like to see this for planets and starbases in your / their influence.  Influence in your favor should be hard to sell but easier to buy, influence in theirs should be hard for you to buy but cheap to sell.

I apologize, but the screencap I tried to post apparently turned into a gigantic page of gibberish and the forum will not let me edit the post. I keep getting a Forums Go Boom page that says EGADS, no matter how I try to edit it. I will keep trying.

I can edit this one, apparently, but not the one I need to. Awesome.
