Ideas for a Sins Solar Empire 2

Recently a few 5s player shave been complaining the Multiplayer is dead. Personally I think it is fine with a wait for a balanced game.

 

One player asked me if I had any ideas to add to the lore of the game.

 

I came up with a quick sketch. I call it Broken Galaxy.

 

The race chasing the Vasari is a hyper advanced civilization. At the height of their civilization they learned how to harness the power of black holes at the center of galaxies. This led to a civil war over this technology and the destruction of the galaxy where they lived. They in fact aren't chasing the Vasari. One of their fleets picked up on a Vasari homing beacon as they searched for a new galaxy to settle (incidently destroyin a portion of Vasari civilization as they attempted to conquer the Vasari). The Vasari fled to the star systems of the Tech and Advent.

A Sins Solar Empire 2 could focus on their technologies. The three (six) factions could loosely ally as this civilization tries to eradicate them and harness the black hole at the center of the galaxy where the Tech and Advent dwell. Vasari, Advent and Tech allied to prevent this civilization from control over their galaxy. Possibly taking some of the technologies in space combat. This would add a fourth faction and new technologies.

One technology I came up with is that metal and crystal refineries could hold a finite amount of material. The new technologies could choose to drain them fast stripping long term resources or remain the same as is in the game now.

The premise of the civil war is the conflict over control of the technology. The two sides could not agree on who would benefit from harnessing the power of the black hole. The faction losing the war sabotaged the reactor. When the reactor went online it was destroyed. They didn't expect that the explosion would explode the black hole. Destroying the center of the galaxy. The outlying arms of the galaxy were severed from the galactic center. Their lifespan shortened by the explosion if the galaxy arm survived the explosion. The lifespan of the galctic arms became decades after the explosion. The lifespan of the galactic arms was billions of years before the faction sabotaged the reactor.

 

The fleets of the two factions were scattered. The reactor disintegrated. The technology intact. The fleets of the two factions using technology well beyond any Tec or Vasari capability went into deep space between galaxies. Many did not survive. The technology to harvest energy from the galactic center was transmitted to surviving solar systems and fleets. The two factions nearest galaxy is the galaxy of Tec, Vasari , and Advent. 

 

This could give potential for a campaign in the civil war or a potential for a campaign to stop the fleet(s) from enslaving Tec and Vasari. They ultimate goal would be to recreate the technology in a new galaxy. The mystery race chasing the Vasari could then be split into two factions. Their technology is well beyond the Vasari. Their energy would be depleted from travel to another galaxy. Giving the three factions time to strike or incorporate the technology while this mystery faction is weakened.
