Frozen turn buttons, Endless load screens - Multiplayer is still a complete mess

My friend and I have been enamoured with this game since we both picked it up in Beta 3. We still haven't been able to finish a multiplayer game together. While the single player seems to run great for both of us, multiplayer is a complete unstable disaster.

  • Game randomly but continually freezes on the "Starting new turn" cycle
  • One of us have ended our turn but the button stays greyed out with "wait"
  • Endless loading times when we try to restore games

We were really excited that maybe these issues that have plagued Beta 3 to present wouldn't be in Beta 5 but here they are; almost as if they were as prevalent and untouched as before.

Please give multiplayer some attention stardock. I've been playing GalCiv games since Alterian Resistance and this new feature is a really big deal to me.

Thought I'd bump this up -

Multiplayer is still a complete mess as we enter Beta 6 and I've lost count how many multiplayer threads I've seen that have gone into the dust.

Main issue for me (and my friends) is the endless load screen for multiplayer. Despite numerous reports about it, the devs have been quiet on this front.

Have you refreshed your installation of GC3 completely? Have you started new saves for each patch?

How to start fresh:

  1. Uninstall the game through Steam
  2. Remove the following directories:
    1. C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3

    2. C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations III

    3. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III

  3. Re-download the game through Steam and opt-in to the latest patch

Yep done all that. Something is going on cause technical support got back to me and they could load up a game fine.

Is there a cloud sync going on? Cause despite a FULL fresh reinstall, I still end up with my saved games listed and my user created faction.

Right - Fixed my problem. It now loads perfectly fine.

All it took was to disable steam cloud as whatever options/settings it was keeping, kept corrupting the game.
