How to swap Relias out with my own Sovereign?

A complete swap would be nice. I don't like how he looks, or his initial build, so could anyone tell me how I can swap him out for a sovereign of my own? If that's impossible then could I at least somehow change his initial build?

edit: removed the stupid part of the question

Relias starts with Fire and Air magic if I recall. Summoning magic comes from the mage path primarily, so relias could become a summoner just by choosing Path of The Mage.

If you want to re-write him, make a custom sovereign for altar, then over-write that unit's InternalName to "Sovereign_Relias."

I am assuming you want to overwrite relias because you are playing the scenario?

Are you playing with the Demons and Wizards mod, by chance?

Yes I wish to rewrite Relias to play the scenario.

No mods yet, I want to beat the game without mods for 1 play through, then I'm gonna mod it like crazy. But I guess this counts as a mod XD.

So what you are saying is:

1. Create a sovereign for altar in-game

2. Open up that sovereign's .xml file and change the InternalName field to "Sovereign_Relias"

And I'm finished? No need to swap a file or replace one?

Yes. However to be certain turn on 'Use Mods' and put that file into the /Mods folder.

The idea is that the game is looking for a unit "InternalName=Sovereign_Relias" at scenario startup. By giving your sovereign that name, you overwrite the original Relias and your unit will show up in scenario. Making it a mod will ensure the over-write occurs.

Let me know if it doesn't work.

Nope, it didn't work. It swapped out the Relias in custom games but not the scenario one.

After digging around, I found the solution myself. In the FE scenario folder, there's a file called FECampaign_Units1.xml and the 1st entry was Relias. I just needed to copy and paste my custom sovereign's info into that file.

I wonder if I can mod the faction to my custom faction as well. Time for more experimentation!

Would have worked for The War for Anthys which is the original Legendary Heroes Scenario.

The Fallen Enchantress Scenario was added at a later date and uses different units.

You're right! And it gave me my custom faction as well. I did not know FE scenario was the 2nd scenario. I'll play WFA first now.
