Beta Patch 5 0.80.9.0 Bugs/Errors

Here is what I've seen thus far in Beta Patch 5 0.80.0

I will be adding everything to the list of known errors within the next day or so as many new ones are appearing...

  • Customized Race creation (Race Overview) -> (Simple Description) will max out at 8 lines of text, it will not give any error message or hint that it will not go further, it will let you continue typing with no ability to scroll down.
  • Related to that point when you click on customize the start up screen, and it allows one to go into more detail it cuts off at around 11 lines of text and you are unable to scroll down but, can continue to type.
  • Scroll down box in the custom race (Appearance) category under (Ship Colors) does not move.
  • Ideological Traits (Outreach II) still doesn't give right class planet, revealed class 14 planet was to reveal a class 10.
  • Artocarpus Viriles Trade Resource does not have a picture associated with it.
  • As stated in other posts some gaurded anomalies don't warn you they are garded.

This is what I saw with an hour an half playing the game :) Good work stardock.

1st Woot woot to the Beta 5!

Love it! That being said it is a beta and it does have some troubles. which I will just report on this thread

 

Bug report:

Crashes... alot sadly. Which is to be expected. I would give a report on conditions but there doesn't appear to be any common noticeable factor to me after several hours of playing.

Multiplayer - custom factions made by a joining player were not present on his computer after a crash and restart. Mine (the host remained present). I did notice that listed on my computer were several copies of his custom faction, though not accessible to him.

 

Multiplayer - there appears to be a hang up with every turn during the start of a new turn. If I had to guess it would be when the minor races are being processed. Not present in single player. Maybe a sync issue?

 

The Drengin while up over 100k in power offered a trade where they gave me a free tech, while angry at me?! Possibly the most disturbing thing I have ever encountered!

 

Rally points were not working for me at all. My friends reported that theirs were working as normal. I attempted setting planets, starbases and even deep space rally points using both methods. This persisted over multiple reloads but only impacted me.

 

I noticed the original posters issues as well but all in all It's looking great! Stability is needed and multiplayer love is continued to be needed, even though I realize the sweet spot is and always will be single player. Multiplayer turns were taking far to long in between the AI and returning to the 1st player. Since this wasnt an issue with single player I would have to imagine its a sync issue like I said before, but what do I know ;)

 

Other then that I am pleased to report that the progress I have seen so far is impressive and exactly what I would have expected from stardock. Keep up the great work fellas!

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I've started 3 games as the Thalans, and each time before I ever click the mouse once, they achieve the first 3 levels of industrialization.  In addition, they only start with a home planet whereas the other races typically start with a home planet and a class 5 or 6 planet nearby to facilitate the first colony.

The Thalans don't have another habitable planet in their home system because their home planet is higher quality.  Generally, the races home systems are balanced so that the total number of tiles across all planets are equal (for example the Krynn start with 3 planets but their home world is class 8).

Adding more from other threads:

-dense trait bugged/error in race traits XML

-abundant planets typo/error in game/galaxy setup xml

-Adaptable trait bugged or tooltip is outdated, only colonizes barren worlds.

-synthetic races get 4 traits for free: 2 from food production -2, 2 from pop growth -2, since they don't use food or pop growth mechanics.
