Is there something like Tiles available from another developer?

I have spent the last ~48 hours configuring and reconfiguring StarDock Tiles and WindowBlinds and getting my settings reset and having my computer combust on me. I've come to the conclusion that if 10 years later WindowBlinds is still in the same sad state, this developer will probably never get their act together.

Does anyone know of alternative software to Tiles and/or WindowBlinds? They are great concepts, just absolutely dreadful in their execution.
